I played this today on Windows10. To get it to work the required OCX files need to be placed in c:\Windows\SysWOW64\ and registered there from an elevated command line (run CMD as admin):
Code: [Select]
regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\XXX.ocxOpen SpaceHulk-SP.exe and select your mission. When the game window opens, doubleclick the top window bar to shrink it to its actual size. It doesn't seem to be possible to move the game window but it works fine anyway.

Wait, I was talking about Alien Assault. This game (in this thread) never had any such problems. Not using any of the original art may have something to do with it.

Then how is it still available? We breaking laws? lol

It did, not by GW but by THQ who got an exclusive license from GW to make this sort of game.

yeah, i ran across that one, too. Theres some spacehulk mods and stuff for it. How come this game didnt get hit with the I.P. Hammer by GW?

You're welcome. You might also be interested in Alien Assault by Teardown. Used to be a Space Hulk game and actually still is, though rebranded now due to licensing issues.

Dont ask me how, but its working now. Thanks a million.

No, it has nothing to do with System Shock. It is a user made game, that was later modded (graphics/sound) by fans and these mods are included with this game.

Okay, two more things to try:
1. Put the OCX files in the game folder instead of system32 and try registering them there.
2. Turn off UAC temporarily for registering the DLLs.

Well, I've had some success. I got the mscom registered. I downloaded it from a different source and it worked fine. Dunno if it was a newer version or what. But ran into the same problem with the  comdlg32 file. Tried it from different sources but no success.

I'll keep trying. I'm determined to get this to work, heh. Playing the new 20th anniversary board game release has reignited that obsession I had.

I think the problem is Im running Vista. Theres a little bit difference in registering OCX files in Vista and its telling me it may not be compatible with this version of windows. It says "Check if the module is compatible with an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of regsvr32.exe"

By the way, I just came upon this while looking around for spacehulk stuff. I thought it was just a user made game, not a mod. Do I need to have system shock or something installed?

No, that's the correct command. Try running the command as administrator.

Got to: Start -> Accessories -> Right click: DOS prompt
Select: Run As Administrator

I keep getting the error needing the mscomctl.ocx file. I put it in the system 32 folder and try registering it but it keeps saying "The Module XXX failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with binary..."

Its definitely in the system 32 folder and Im trying to run command "regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\mscomctl.ocx". Am I doing something wrong?

Yes, read the manual.

I have a problem. Each time I try to start a campaign mission, it gets an error that says "component 'C0MDLG32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered. A file is missing or invalid".

Can you help me pleasE?

Thank you

This game was great. I just wish I knew you could opt between a heavy flamer and a special gun BEFORE beating the game... Really awesome, if a bit short.

I didn't make this game and development has been abandoned long ago. So a level editor is unlikely.
Look out for when the Teardown team ever gets their version past the copyright issues.

Finally, after looking for a decent single-player port so long. Thank you!

Any chance of getting a level editor? ;)

The actual gamescreen size is only 1024x768, which is quite small to begin with. Try doubleclicking the blue window bar and it will crop to that size. If it's still too big you may want to increase your desktop resolution.

I checked it. It works. Try turning off your firewall and/or a different browser. I've had reports from people using Sunbelt firewall that their downloads were cut off.

It's really not that hard. You probably do something wrong. Check out the rules above.
Apart from 2 or 3 missions I managed to get through each at my first try. That's why I asked the devs back then to give us an option to let more Genestealers into the Hulk. :)

Thank you very much for links and graphics for the game, Kolya!! Can´t wait to play! Some years ago I even created a paper game inspired by bloody battles of evil Genestealers and mighty Terminators. :thumbwink:

Below each pic you'll find the corresponding tileset. To install a tileset backup your "bmp"-folder in your SpaceHulk SP dir. Then unzip the downloaded tileset into the original "bmp".
