I've played through the Playstation 4 version of the game, and the controls are fine. The game does have some bugs, the worst being that it deleted some of my game-saves, so if you play it then save regularly, and make several different save-games (at least four or five).
The game is fully playable, and works well with the controller, at least on the PS4, I have no idea about other versions of the game.
