Windows XP SP3, enabled DEP for essential files and services only, same problem. 0.0.3.39 working like a charm.

I was having the exact same problem as ColdSlap and Slim (I have an English XP with SP2, by the way), but I downloaded the earlier version (0.0.3.39) and it works flawlessly. Since 0.0.4.2 wouldn't even start, I couldn't 'officially' uninstall it, so all I did was delete the 'SS2MM' folder in my SS2 directory and the modManager worked well.

Same problem here, XP SP3 and 0.0.4.2. won't start.

As someone who wants to stay updated and always use the latest and greatest, is there any chance that we will see an updated version of ModManager that will work with SP3?

Thanks for a great tool!

Don't worry. I will fix it eventually whenever I aquire new hard drive and have time to install Windows XP with SP3 into it and all other (un)necessary software.

Hello there.

Just wanted to ask if some "priority" indication is going to be implemented.
I mean the situation when you have 2 or more  (let's call them A, B and C) conflicting mods and want to give them priorities like A, C, B for example. As I have understood currently user needs to activate these mods in backward order (i.e. activate B, then C and then A) to have the desired behaviour (if it will work at all (: ). But these order can not be seen after activating.

For example Smart Mod Manager for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. uses some kind of graph (or tree) structure to indicate this: screenshot.

PS: and yes, 0.0.4.2 won't start on my XP SP2 too.

As long as it cannot predict what features actually make it, this seems just fancy.
What I would like to see is the ability to save/load mod scenarios.

I'd like to see the ability to have complex options scripting when installing a mod, ala the Oblivion Mod Manager - letting you choose which options of a larger mod you would like to play with.
For example, a mod might feature a modification to a weapon model, yet have the option of which version - original or a remake - you would like to install.

Just to help out here - running an English XP OS here, and I had the exact same problem with it crashing after startup, as well as a nasty little frozen process bug where I couldn't shut down the ss2mm process from running, though I'm suspicious that was due to some other tinkering I was doing.  In any event: the latest version didn't work, but the previous version works just fine.

Hello!

After learning the basics of Photoshop and Freehand at school I decided to try making new icons for the mod manager. Here they are! The "ss2 teal" one is for the app itself and the red one is for the mods. The original ones have text on them but I'd think that different color is better way to distinct them fron each other. They look cleaner that way. The icons are a complete package including tiny 16x16px, normal 32x32px and large 48x48px versions and all of them look good and crisp. These can be used in shortcuts because it doesn't seem to have an effect when the original ones are replaced in SS2MM folder...

What do you think?

Looks like a "2" with a circle around it. The lone extrusion on the circle is a pretty weak visual link to SS2.

New version released with a fix to that bug. And I didn't have to buy new hard drive after all.  :p

OK, I probably will aquire it in near future whenever need to install XP permanently arises.

Shocked_ : Thanks for putting them here, too! They look nice.

Well the first observation is quite right. I tried to keep the things simple (and it wasn't actually the hardest freehand work I've done). But I disagree about the second point. For *me* that "2 with a circle around it" from the box art is one of the first things that come in my mind when I think of SS2. I naturally assumed that other people thought the same I quess.

Huh? So latest version (0.0.4.19) of manager doesn't work in your computer? What kind of errors it gives?

Huh? So latest version (0.0.4.19) of manager doesn't work in your computer? What kind of errors it gives?
well when i try to run 0.01.4.19 it only displays standart Windows error msg that it made some wrong operation and it will be closed - and asks if i want to send the report to Microsoft.

it seems to be the common problem I have red about somewhere above in this post - something within my SP2/SP3 prevents ModManager from running. and some people above have written that 0.0.3.39 "works like a charm". this is the reason why I *think* that the older version *might* help me...

anyway, thanks for your reply! and PLEASE, would you give me the link?
or do you suggest another solution?

PS: please excuse my bad english, it is not my language.

Huh, that is odd. I'm sure that I have fixed that problem in 0.0.4.19. It should work in Windows 2000 and XP flawlessy. Are you sure that you are running/trying install 0.0.4.19?

Did you download SS2MM_1.10_Beta_Build_0.0.4.19_bin.7z or SS2MM_1.10_Beta_Build_0.0.4.19_installer.7z?

Did you download SS2MM_1.10_Beta_Build_0.0.4.19_bin.7z or SS2MM_1.10_Beta_Build_0.0.4.19_installer.7z?

I have downloaded and installed: SS2MM_1.10_Beta_Build_0.0.4.2.7z
before instaling it, I have run and patched my SS2 with: SS2Tool_v.2.4.exe

I have extracted the following mods into my SS2 directory:
rebirth01_complemented.zip
shtup_beta6.zip
SS2_Straylight_ADaoB_v029.7z
(I think I have extracted them in this order, although I am not 100% sure.)

am I doing something wrong? please, let me know. I would be grateful if you provide me with guidance.
FYI, I am running it on WIN XP SP3 with latest update, Celeron D 3GHz, 512MB RAM, Ati Radon HD2400.
the game works (the basic and advanced training), but it has the known problem with use/shoot mice button mapping...
I would like to correct it via ModMan and also to use it when loading other mods that are posted here...

thank you,
silmarill

Read the first post again. How do I make a downloaded Mod/FM work with the Mod Manager?

I have downloaded and installed: SS2MM_1.10_Beta_Build_0.0.4.2.7z
...

You have old, obsolete and buggy version (0.0.4.2. Granted, it should be 0.0.4.02. I will upgrade my scripting system so it will include zeros in version numbers.) of manager installed.

Download SS2MM_1.10_Beta_Build_0.0.4.19_installer.7z, open it in 7-Zip and run setup-ss2mm.exe to install newest version of mod manager.

oh thank you, TheBrain!!! now it works...

one more question: isn't there any mod MEGA-PACK that contains all the new graphics and models and bugfixes?

66f937fcaaaacmiracle.flame

66f937fcaab02
it's off topic but I'll answer.. there is no reason to post those hybrids here... you can make such one yourself like more of us do. you just unpack all of them into one folder and pack in one archive which will be such mod. More of us do that for our personal use...

I'm having some issues, I downloaded the latest version of the SS2 tool, and then downloaded the installer I download it and I get this:

C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\SS2MM_1.10_Beta_Build_0.0.4.048_installer-1.7z could not be opened, because an unknown error occurred.

Try saving to disk first and then opening the file.
