Wait... LP makes you immune like a shield?  What's the scope of the immunity and is there an ingame explanation?

The only thing I have noticed the shield on is with the Protocol Droids explosions. Since the explosion is their only attack, it makes you immune to them. I have seen some faqs state that it also gives you immunity to the explosions of other mechs, but in my testing with both turrets and the big bots, LP has absolutely no effect. I suppose I could be wrong with the big bot, since they are shooting up until they explode, but with the turrets, I was hitting them with security hacked, so they weren't shooting back. I guess the way to make sure with the big bots would be to buy the mech freeze psi skill. I never buy that skill, so I never tried it.

The laser turrets also die with an incendiary explosion which Local Pyro should protect you from, also hackable crates on critical failure and some explosive barrels, the sound those objects make on death is a giveaway since it sounds just like Projected Pyrokinesis.

Sounds like the local pyro script makes the player temporarily immune to Incendiary stims so you don't kill yourself using it. Most other explosions have a bit of Standard Impact stim as well, which explains why you still take damage from them.

This whole mess could have been avoided if Irrational had bothered creating a second Incendiary stim that only enemies are sensitive to.

... if Irrational had bothered
There's a lot they didn't bothered with in this game.

Thinking about it some more, it makes sense that if you are running LP and a robot explodes, you should be immune from the incendiary aspects of the explosion, but the flying robot shrapnel should still do you some damage. If the droids are setup to do only incendiary and no shrapnel, then that sounds like an oversight. Maybe they just didn't think about someone using LP in that circumstance.

Well, easy enough to fix by just adding another damage type to protocol droid explosions.

Why are you complaining? It's perfect for you regardless of the imperfections, remember?

Not as of lately after seeing everything posted here.

in the current version of SCP, pyro field does not make you invulnerable to the protocol droid explosion, but it does greatly reduce the damage (17 vs 4 hitpoints). same goes for laser turret, but not for slug turret. no reduction for big bots either.

as ZB said, it protects you from incendiary damage, so if some explosion does incendiary damage+some other damage, the incendiary part will get filtered out.

I totally agree with LP protecting you from fire and totally DISAGREE with it protecting you from explosions.  The very essence of an explosion is that it imparts a sudden force due to rapid expansion.  This may or may not involve debris/shrapnel but it always involves a sudden force and sudden forces injure living organisms irrespective of whether or not they are "hot".  Therefore, the droid and all other incendiary explosions are the bugs in that all explosions should contain more than just incendiary stims.

one way or another, I don't think there is any easy way of modifying the pyro field behavior. the current SCP fix is adding a "partially protects from explosions" description to the discipline and screw it 'till beta2.

anyway, I have been fixing up rick2 map (the inverted level), probably the most nonsensical level in the entire game (seriously, a chapel, maintenance tunnels, and a medbay, while the only way of accessing the medbay is from the maintenance tunnels? really? anyone wounded being dragged from rick1 would die from old age before reaching the medbay), and noticed that this level does not have any doors. this is one inconsistency that can be remedied quite easily, but not sure whether this should be included in the main SCP build.

What is wrong with a chapel?

My Opinion:

Like the doors, room the bot spawns from, ceiling/floor lights...EMP projectile effects? Not sure what details I'm missing but I have g2g.
Keep the doors for primary release. Also look at the EMP rape. You didn't even need to have those Assassins, turrets and mech in your LOS to kill them, I'm sure you are aware. Did you nerf it's damage in the end? Doesn't look so unfortunately.

what isn't?
It's pretty common to have a chapel on larger ships (those in the water).

67422a0d907c4
in the maintenance tunnels which are the only way to the medbay and the bridge at the same time? nope. this level is not much of a level, more like "we need to drag the player around for a bit more before we shoot him up a giant worm's ass" kind of thing. it doesn't look as nuts just because it's inverted, which messes up most people's bullshit sensors. flip it back and you will start facepalming.
67422a0d908d0
Well, I don't remember much of the game anymore. So you are probably right. Just thought you think a chapel itself is bogus.
But there are alot of spaces which just don't make any sense.

you can say that again. as mentioned before, the only proper way of fixing this would be to remake everything from scratch, taking the general shape of the ships and design the maps so they would fit and include everything one would expect to find on a starship.

but that's not something easily done, so a bunch of doors and other stuff will have to do for now, making at least the worst places less bananas.
67422a0d90b21
Well, if you would ever remake everything from scratch you could also move on to a newer engine as well and just redo the whole damn game.
But before I would remake SS2 I would rather start working on SS.

Well, you just need a couple of talented people, alot of time and you can make it.
Just take a look at Black Mesa.
It's not out of the possible.
