We should have a competition to see who can come up with the most retarded looking thing in the game by swapping all the assets around.  My request would be to see a rumbler doing the macarena while emitting heat seeking toilets.

It's not hard to make the game behave retarded in it's current state now either

just make sure you won't give a humanoid a non-humanoid motion, or Dark's going to kick your ass.

NV and I probably won this when we played multiplayer through Dromed and kept going back into Edit Mode to change the models of our player objects to monkeys, spiders and other random stuff and watching the bipedal monster meshes actually play most player motions correctly.

Also see this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCgnvDmnkqE - for hybrids randomly playing back unused cutscene motions for showering / playing basketball, i think from a corrupt motiondb.bin

Sometimes you have the biggest fun with a game when it is broken :D
674252bfa8ff8
Gotta disagree, unless the game is a ton of shite.

Why are everyone so offended by anything here...
674252bfa91cf
He just disagrees with everything. Don't even start wondering about it.

I'm offended that you asked. And so is my wife.

How exactly did you come to this conclusion from what I just posted? Disagreeing= offended?

Oh wait, this is the SCP thread, you're trying to start more arguments, gotcha.

He just disagrees with everything. Don't even start wondering about it.

You don't know what you are talking about.

When the SCP was first announced, I believe the overall point of it was to keep in line with the spirit of what LGS originally intended for it, using the ADaOB as a base.

There have been a lot of posts, and I'm not going to go through this entire thread looking for them, but I swear there were at least a few where possibly voodoo mentioned that balancing of the weapons and maybe the psi skills in line with what ADaOB was trying to do, only better executed overall, was going to be part of the SCP main. That is why I mentioned it some posts back.

The point behind this was part of what the SCP was supposedly trying to accomplish, by balancing the weapons and psi in a way that was hopefully in line with how LGS was trying to make them work, without adding stuff in like new abilities and such, at least in the main release of the SCP. Fixing things such as making the Fusion Cannon actually worthwhile over the Grenade Launcher, or the Crystal Shard doing too much damage with the overhead swing, or the melee psi boosting ability ruining variance in melee weapons by making even the wrench basically a one or two hit kill weapon, or the Assault Rifle being the UBER ELITE MEGA GUN.

Forgive me, please, if this sounds a bit pretentious...but other than ADaOB not quite balancing the weapons how it probably should, and having an UNGODLY ANNOYING CRASH ALMOST EVERYTIME YOU FIRE A LASER PISTOL BUG, if the SCP isn't going to properly balance the weapons and psi abilites better than ADaOB, since they are a mess in balance vanilla otherwise and not what LGS was trying to make them obviously, what is the point of using the SCP instead of ADaOB?

Because thus far what people both working on it and speculating about it have been saying is changing quite a lot lately.

Anyway, have a good day chaps and chapettes  :).

P.S. "'Ey, Kolya! You gettin' lost in dah river of posts mahn!" *throws him a digital life raft*  8)

Uh, all the several hundred other things SCP fixes and/or improves?  :/

From what I gather:

Level design bugs & inconsistencies.
Special effects improvements.
Gamesys (limited coding: can be a number of things including balancing, but they purposely stay away from cracking open that fat egg for the most part).
Just about any bug or inconsistency they have access to, which is everything except a notable portion of game code, and all of engine code, and possibly NPC animations.

Not sure why I am speculating on this though, I guess I just missed you Drone-Drag  :happyjoy:
I'm under the illusion that I am bored is why. I have plenty to do!

There are no women here. It's just us and Shodan.

the point of SCP, when you look past the rainbows and unicorns, is to provide an overhauled resource package that can be recommended to a first time player with a straight face (ADaoB was going a bit too far sometimes, like the above mentioned laser pistol for example). and while the SCP overhauling has been brought to a higher level, I still can, and will recommend it to a new player while keeping a straight face, as it simply provides a better experience in every aspect you might think of, when compared to vanilla.

purists will be recommended to go with ss2tool 6.0's basic bugfix pack. supreme purists not satisfied with the basic bugfix pack will be advised to go eff themselves. also, I believe this has been explained enough, so let's just stop this 'till all the haters get their hands on the actual product.

Uh, all the other several hundred things SCP fixes and/or improves?  :/
I think we are already in thousands, especially if we count all the small texture fixes.

Ah, but can you also recommend it to a hardcore/long-time player whilst keeping a straight face?
...I guess I've got Secmod yet to try for that fix.

I'll recommend it to anyone looking for the best "classic" SS2 experience. Secmod is meant for experienced players looking for new challenges.

also, let me repeat - the weapon fixup/overhaul/rebalance or whatever you want to call it that was inherited from ADaoB will be thoroughly inspected for SCP beta2, but this needs to be done very carefully, as it's one big jenga tower, you pull some pieces wrong and down it goes.

Balancing is actually the hardest part in creating games.

I agree. It's taken me two years to "balance" Deus Ex, and there's still a few nagging things to sort.
For the original developers of games featuring great complexity it's likely impossible to achieve balance first try. I think the most impressive work in this regard has to be Dark Souls, though it probably isn't quite on DX or SS2's level in terms of complexity, but regardless they did a great job with balancing all systems.
