hi guys,

I've recently come back to SS2 with the NewDark patch. Played it for the first time in 3-4 years and loved it!

I'm keen to play this and other FMs but I'm having trouble with some bugs. As described above, cyber modules and psi ob is missing in UNN headquaters.

I'm having trouble following the rough work around above. Could someone please direct me to where I can download the FM manager?

Cheers, and thanks for maintaining this fantastic site!

the recommended way of playing FMs in NewDark is to use the integrated fmselect. edit cam_mod.ini and remove ; from the beginning of the fm line, and run shock2exe. you will be prompted about folder creation, click yes and exit. now extract the fm into it's own folder (ponterbee for example), and move that folder into the FMs folder. now run shock2.exe again, and the fm should be listed. doubleclick it and you are done.

this should fix all resource related issues (which you seem to be having).

Hey, I can't get reactor control code 1. I checked the walkthrough, but there's nothing there for me. I think it's glitched, so would one of you mind just posting the code? Or a dev command I can use to get around it?

Im almost up to this. Could someone let me know where the code is normally found?

You can find the first reactor control code within Hydroponics. I've never had problems obtaining it as long as I made sure to look around intuitively, but if you absolutely cannot find it the code is: 23899

It wasn't appaering because I didn't use the FMselect dealie. I did that and restarted and it was there just fine. You've got my thanks, though.

Yeah that stumped me the first time too. Note that you can still play the FM properly without using the FM Selector if you rename the "misdml" folder, although the FM Selector is pretty nicely done and greatly simplifies things (also allows for per-FM config files).

I'm pretty sure the code for the reactor is found in one of the two freezer rooms.

I really enjoy Ponterbee station. It's extremly well made, especially with all the audiologs and stuff. Right now I'm stuck, maybe someone can help me out?

Spoiler:
I can't find the reactor core code 3, somewhere else I read that it may be somewhere on deck 6, but I haven't found it. There's only one area which I can see but cannot enter and that is the room which contains the lift to the command deck, but the way is barred and I don't know how to open it.

Edit: forget it. I just found out :-)

So I've started playing Ponterbee again.  It's been so long since I last played (back when it was first released), it's like playing it for the first time.  Which is wonderful.  And with all the latest mods added, this FM and SS2 in general look quite breathtaking.

But there's one thing I'm wondering about.  On the newly added first level, I find the apartment corridors to be really dark.  Is it that way for everyone?  I thought about adjusting the gamma slider, but outdoors looks just fine.  If I adjusted the gamma, outside would probably become too bright.  Just wondering if there's something I can tinker with (other than gamma) to perhaps improve the almost pitch black appearance of the corridors, or if it's meant to look that way.

Yeah I thought the same but if you compare it to the original, it really is that dark. I believe it's because the lighting in ShockEd doesn't support indirect lighting and only seems to be good at producing dark ambiance (for obvious reasons).

Christines homepage ( http://www.zinkchristine.de/ ) seems to be gone!? Nothing except a crying racoon there.

Yeah I thought the same but if you compare it to the original, it really is that dark.
Good to know, thanks.  It was only at the beginning, anyway.

Now I have a new problem.  I'm finding that oftentimes when I switch ammunition on the pistol, the FM crashes.  For now, I'll just keep going.  But I hope I can figure out what's causing it.  I did a quick search, and didn't see any mention of this.

I used SS2Tool 4.7 on what I copied from my retail SS2 CD, and I have a long list of mods installed.  One of them is probably causing this.

Ok, here's the bug we expected. 2 players, both have the same game folder: patched to the last version (with ss2tool 5.1), with ponterbee v3 + dark update put into "fms" folder, and we run the game with the mod manager. We completed several decks, and when we came back it appeared that the decks are like we've never been there before. I've checked the save folder - every folder, incl. "current" have its own set of mis-files. Maybe something isn't loading.

We haven't tried other FM yet (well, actually we did try Nightwalker, but it hanged in loading the deck 1, and we didn't save our progress before going there). I haven't tried the single-player mode as well.
Re: SS2 Christine FM1: Ponterbee Station V3

Use of the mod manager is discouraged as it isn't compatible with some new dark changes. However that may not be the cause of this problem. Make sure that the games are not installed in the "Program Files" folder so SS2 can write to its saves folders. And test in single player to find out if this is even an MP issue or just a misconfiguration.

try uploading the broken saves.
Re: SS2 Christine FM1: Ponterbee Station V3

Ok, as I said, there's only SS2 with ss2tool 5.1, PS v3 and dewdark patch, everything is in c:\games\sshock2

I've included all configs and logs and kept the folder structure: www.valet2.com/ss2-ps-bug.zip

Gonna try the single-player mode. But the deck 2 is soooo huge...

[more info]

Well, I've tried to load the multiplayer game but play alone. The previous decks stayed untouch, but when I did something and came back there later, it saved the progress. Now I'm waiting for other player's save files, so I could try it with imitating co-op using my laptop.

[more info]

Uploaded player2's saves: www.valet2.com/ss2-ps-bug-player2.zip

Have tried multiple times to co-op play on two computers. In 70% of times player2's game doesn't load when I go to other deck. But if it loads, 100% of times player2's game doesn't load anything else.

I've also tried to put all save folders into the game folder and fm-s resources to datatempmods, and to play the game without using of mod manager. Nothing new.

Now I'm gonna make a new SS2-copy with all FM's resources built in the original crf-files. I did it my whole life (yeah, different copy of the game for each FM), and it worked.

[more info]

Didn't help at all, with these saves. Again, in most cases the deck doesn't load on second player's, and if it does, it's untouched. Gonna try original game and some other FM.

[more info]

Uffff... I've spent too much time... Well, the original game doesn't have this issue - moving through levels save their progress. The same with Nightwalker - I advanced to deck 1, came back - everything is fine, zombies are dead :)

But in most cases the second player's game just doesn't load.... Damn!!!

Now I've started PS, and nothing happens when we go to the conference room. Tried twice... What a mess!

Since you can apparently repeat this issue: Can you produce a save game where you haven't visited the reset level yet (the level that becomes untouched)?
You can go back to see if it is reset of course, but the save game should be made before going back.
Maybe we can reproduce the issue and figure out what screws up the level.
Re: SS2 Christine FM1: Ponterbee Station V3
6741838d64d43
Yeah, the second save, for example - we're at the deck 1, and the deck 2 should be completed. We didn't visit it again yet. All others decks are untouched.

Btw, we've just completed Nightwalker and Polaris - didn't have issues.

Well......

I've put the newest nvscript, and we could continue from one of the saves (one of them has worked well, others - didn't). It's 5:20 AM, we've finally completed the FM. Incredible!!

I've played it many years ago, so forgot everything, totally.

I have updated "SS2_Christine_PonterbeeStationV3.7z" in the first post with the latest NVScript.osm (v1.2.3)

Edit: I'm a moron. Didn't see the keypad. As I recall I made the same mistake the last time i played too.

Ok I am loving this FM so far, however I think I completely messed myself over. I went to engineering first off the bat, and there doesn't seem to be a button to go back to the other decks. Do I restart or what. I will do so in a couple of days barring a reply.
