Intro
This is an independent and non-profit fan-site for the long defunct games company Looking Glass Studios. We focus on the "System Shock" game series from 1994 ("System Shock") and 1999 ("System Shock 2"). Today these games are recognised by video game journalists, game creators and hardcore gamers to be among the most immersive and influential PC games ever produced.

Not content with simply carving out a new niche, System Shock sliced one open with a laser beam while everyone else wondered what they were looking at. The series' legacy doesn't just live on in first person shooters with RPG mechanics. It can be found in any game with environments that provide meaningful interactions along with an atmosphere that gives context to those actions.

At Systemshock.org we strive to honour this legacy by continuously working with these games. We write programs and modifications to keep them running on modern computer systems and extend their functions and look. With System Shock Portable we provide a way for gamers to dive into the first cyberpunk nightmare, now featuring mouse-look control. We've also taken System Shock 2 well beyond the original game: Our fixes and modifications have introduced high quality textures and 3D models, 32bit rendering, arbitrary resolutions, gameplay enhancements and new original content. More is to come.

This website exists since January 2005. All of our work is given away for free here, by the original authors.
We allow unregistered guests to download all files and post on our forums. If you have a problem with one of the games ask MOTHER or write to the System Shock Helpdesk forum.

We run no ads, instead this website relies on donations. So please consider supporting us.
If you want to give your thanks to a particular author please check their profile to find their wishlists or donation links.

By using this site, whether as a guest or as a registered member, you agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Additionally we have a few general guidelines for you:
  • Treat everyone at least as politely as you would want to be treated.
  • If you need help, then show what you've done to solve your problem yourself first. Be as specific as possible.
  • Don't be afraid to ask.
  • Never forget that this website is just a hobby. You can ask, but demands will be ignored.
  • Mark your joke or irony with a smiley, especially when you're new to this forum.
  • We welcome newbies and we hope you stay and become a help for others and our friend.

We use cookies, IP addresses and email addresses for the sole purpose of managing this website. We will never give any personally identifiable data to third parties, unless we would be forced by law. Details can be found in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Unusability

Delete yourself (You got no chance to win)
To delete your own account, please see your account settings here. For security reasons account deletions have to be confirmed by an administrator.
Note that if you decide to delete your account, the messages you posted will remain on this site. We will not remove or change them for you. And you will not be able to delete your messages by editing them. See "Message Permanence" below.

Message permanence
As a registered member you can edit your messages. This allows you to clean up typos and correct factual errors. However this is not a way to hide or delete anything you posted. The previous versions of your message will still be available to other registered members. A link ("Last Edit:...") at the end of your message will point to that message's history.
Think first, before you post something you might regret later.

Contacting the Administrator and Moderators
We generally appreciate to keep communications publicly on the boards. If you have a question, feel free to post it in the Recreation Deck or in the System Shock Helpdesk forum. It will help more people than just yourself.
If there is a problem with a post, we encourage you to use the report function in that post to notify us.
If you still think you need to contact the administrators privately, you can do so either by Private Message or by email:

Note that we may decide in our sole discretion to publish any such communications later on this site.

RSS Feeds
Here are some feeds you can subscribe to.
If you're only interested in the feed of a specific subforum, look for the RSS button in the top right of that forum. By looking at the RSS links above you should also be able to create your own personal RSS feed quite easily.

A little bit of history repeating
The first System Shock modifications forum was started by Wuggles in June 2003. Unintentionally I gave it the name that stuck: Wuggles Unlimited. The forum had to close down after a while due to problems with their host. From it's ashes emerged "Shock Unlimited" [RIP] run by JediK/Yorick and Wuggles. I was a moderator there for some time but eventually quit to start a new site.
Work on SBF (Strangebedfellows.de) began in December 2004 and it was opened to the public in February 2005.
The main domain was changed to Systemshock.org on 23. June 2010. The additional domain Systemshock.net was added on 03. November 2012.
The acronym "SMA" stands for Shock Modifications Archive.

TTLG Connection
In 1994 an avid System Shock fan named Saam Tariverdi created the fan site TriOptimum Corp Net. In 1996 he and Dan "Digital Nightfall" Todd went on to create TTLG.com ("Through The Looking Glass").
Nowadays TTLG is a network of websites honouring the legacy of Looking Glass Studios, with the TTLG forums used as a hub. Their smaller game specific sites, most of which were created in the late 1990s, are still partly maintained.
This site was started as an independent service for TTLG's System Shock fans, providing central hosting for the game modifications. Everyone is welcome here of course.
