I read that in patch 2.23, bodies will disappear after they go off-screen.  I'm pretty sure I have that patch since I have multi-player.  Bought it sometime in 2001 or 02, pretty sure it's Re-release since I've always had multi-player. However I have a vague recollection of my version being 2.03 (I remember it being displayed in the menu, which is oddly not there anymore).  After all these years I've not seen one body get wiped from the game.

Sorry for the double post!

I tried installing the patch, it said it found 2.3.  Is that right?

wow, lucky guy you are

AFAIK there are only two versions - without Multiplayer in menu and the patched one with Multiplayer

Bodies do disappear, but not right after they went off screen.
1.15 was the original version and 2.23 is the patched version. Disregard what the patch-installer says. Your game is patched in any case.

So you are saying they are supposed to disappear permanently at some point?  That hasn't been my experience.  Once I reach deck 5 I can go back to any area and the bodies from my previous encounters haven't faded.  Gets very frustrating since fps drop dramatically with only 10 bodies lying around.  I started using the no respawn mod as a simple solution.

Yeah. But they always disappeared. The change of the patch is that they don't disappear while in sight. (See patch readme). So I'm not sure what would be causing this problem.

Only the bodies that you personally snuffed disappear, though. Not the decorative dead bodies the game put there.(sorry if that was too obvious)

Hmmm, from my experience bodies do disappear after specific time no matter if I'm looking at them. I was testing it because I was trying to figure out how to not make them disappear.
