Turn off Autosave?

Is there a way to turn off autosave? The reason i'm asking is because it crashes whenever it autosaves because i'm playing off a disk (or trying to).

I guess games are saved to the path given by the install_path variable in install.cfg.
Try changing that and see if the game still works. (Other stuff might depend on that as well.)
If there are no problems and (auto) save games are saved to the new path you set, you could use the global variable %temp% as a path.

If that won't work for you I'd suggest usb flash drive

Okay It looks like it's working. God it would be so much easier if there were a setting...
Now I'll do the same with SSP. None of them have ever played SS1.
