there is a similar setup placed on those as well, most likely. and yeah, I'm sure this is it.

and again, prepare for a long journey, no way you can export this in three clicks and be done with it tomorrow. you'll most likely have to simplify the setup somehow as well, maybe by replacing the stims with flinderize links.

Well of course, hard work always pays off. Where can I read about DMLs?

Thanks, Where did you go to find the archetypes in ShockED?

press F3 and put in -396, that will open the hybrid archetype.

I noticed in the Pop's files there are only burn textures for the hybrid ("OG"), monkeys and spiders. I also think I'll likely have to disable the disintegration due to it possibly changing game balance (if energy weapons have a tendency to disintegrate enemies, it will make looking items more difficult for energy users).

nope, he also has their models there (Burnt_OG.BIN etc), the creature being turned burnt is probably achieved by a model swap.

 So I can have a better understanding, where can I read up on NPC/object attributes? To be perfectly honest, I don't even know what an archetype is.

-396 would be a good example. it's a list of properties and setups that determine what happens with hybrids under various circumstances. for example, what their hitpoints are, or what happens when they are shot with shotguns. all concrete instances of hybrids found throughout the game will inherit/act upon those properties and setups.

I really have no particular way of learning I could recommend - I was always just poking around, googling (a lot of Thief editor knowledge can be found out there, and 90% of it is applicable to SS2 as well), asking and trying to find out how things work, and gained the required knowledge in, well, a bunch of years. not having any coding background and having zero experience with any kind of game editor was a big handicap.

Ok, I see now. So there's two evens going on; damaging them causes the blood spats and killing them (and depending how) causes either chard corpse, mutilated corpse or disintegration. You just have to edit the properties.

Are any of the gore effects possible on an already dead subject (i.e. burn a dead body)?

pretty much. quick example of what (I think) is going on when exploding;

if damage > X, remove AI, spawn gore exploder object
slay gore exploder, spawn gore bits from the exploder
spawn blood splat when a gore bit collides with ground

so you are looking at three setups on three objects, probably.

Decided I'd test a game with Pop's mod enabled (also cheats; don't have time to play fair). Oddly I'm unable to any of the alternate death animations, besides dismemberment, work even with necessary weapons. Also dismemberment prevents the corps from being searched. Any way I could, perhaps, make the inventory transfer to the new corps or at least make the items spawn among the bloody mass on the floor.

P.S. never realized it before but some of the vanilla textures for the NPCs feel more detailed then Rebirth's versions.

NVGibTrap, but again, this is not going to be a one click and done thing.
