Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked, have been sacked.

Life is *so* miserable at the moment. I don't know anyone who seems happy or more than slightly optimistic. Even the news that the Covid lockdown in England (where I live) is starting to be lifted isn't, from the looks of it, having much of a cheering effect.

It's been speculated that with the virus's high rate and speed of mutation, that a really effective virus that properly protects against all likely forms of the virus is, if not impossible, then still a fair while away from being developed. If this is true, so I've heard, then we could be looking at a decade or more of mask wearing and social distancing. It's even been speculated that this could go on indefinitely, with new strains emerging periodically, decades from now.

On the plus side, whoever develops a complete cure/end to the Covid 19 problem will make a fortune, meaning that many, many people and companies, armed with the best knowledge and facilities in the world, will be working very hard at the problem.

And the world really, really deserves some luck around about now. So if you are looking down on us, super intelligent aliens, and wondering if you should interfere with human progress, then please please do. And when you've given us a cure for Covid 19, can you fix diabetes next, please? So I can drink Irn Bru again!  :thumb:

And when they find the solution to that problem, they'll patent it to make sure most of the world can't afford it.

Yeah, I was about to say that the market won't solve this by itself. To achieve the necessary herd immunity worldwide you need to think beyond profit about the common good. Then again this thread seems to be about some video game remake sequel. So I said nothing.

True, but the financial incentives will definitely help to hasten the (however delayed and enventual) end of the Covid crisis.

Yes, but this is the internet, so you have to expect off topic ramblings or non sequiturs by idiots like me :thumb:

I might have chips and chicken for my tea. Discuss.

How does one get to calling a meal like potato chips and chicken "tea"?

I'm so thankful to be living where I am (Australia). We're one of the few countries that went hard on the virus from the get go. Blocked people from coming in from China and a few other countries from the beginning. As a result we're mostly virus free besides hotel quarantine. It's that early choice that all governments had. Do you concentrate on saving lives (via going into lockdown and enforce mask wearing) or money where all businesses remain open etc.
