good - taking down projects that still require a legal purchase of the game to run is pure douchebaggery, and whoever tries to pull it off deserves no sympathy (or even better, no purchase of any future product).

That article is pretty far off the map, really.  The main developers are still receiving legal advice from the Github-provided free lawyer.  One person who had forked the repo just filed a random counter-notice and Take Two failed to respond in the allowed time period.  The end result is that essentially nothing changed, but it could have been harmful to the while effort.  Some idiotic journalists paint this as a case of one brave developer against a bunch of cowardly ones, but in reality the person who filed the counter-notice wasn't involved in development and the actual developers are still trying to get legal advice.

Take Two is just lazy about this.  They ignored the counter-notice and never even filed notices for mirrors of the code on various other sites (which are still up and running).  But the takedown had the intended effect: the developers stopped working on their project.  And they haven't restarted after this "win".

Loved He-Man as a kid. Even didn't mind the movie.

New series looks interesting.

yeah, but as mentioned, bait-and-switch rumors are already circling around. basically, you'll get all the trailer stuff in the first episode, and then it will be just all the usual garbage that plagues most reboots all over again.

the live action was a good bad movie, would recommend.

Everyone seems to forget about the 200x He-Man.
That show was pretty good.

6744bc19aaef2
most of the youtube people that were covering the last reboot did not.
6744bc19aaff1
Yeah, but most of the more serious ones are into He-Man or at least are smart enough to read a wiki page.

I was kind of poking fun at the trailer saying "AFTER 40 YEARS" and people going mad about this like there never was anything in between.

6744bc19ab0cf
yeah, that has also been pointed out.

//bait-and-switch confirmed, fail incoming.

lets give GOG a little poke here - grabbed Hexen2 just for the heck of it, and the 3d accelerated version is the original opengl exe, running through the 3dfx opengl icd on the nglide 3dfx wrapper.

...seriously?

I usually try to avoid sharing youtube rant videos, but this is just too good, and oh so relevant for computer games as well.

Completely agree with the video.

* Star Wars - Main movies sucks majorly nowadays. Weirdly all the side stuff (eg Rogue One, Mandalorian, Jedi - Fallen Order etc) have been fantastic.
* Doctor Who which I idolised as a kid, and still heavily enjoy to this day when lost episodes are found from the old era of the show is a shadow of it's former self. I stopped watching it when they made the Doctor a woman as that was just the straw that broke the camels back. It used to be a show about stopping alien invasions, and defeating the grand plans of evil masterminds. And now it's about trans people, and racism and LGBT stuff. That's not what Doctor Who's supposed to be about for fucks sake. Plus gender switching was never cannon until modern Doctor Who.

I'm quite sad about how low the shows fallen. It's likely going to get cancelled in a few years or so, as the main fanbase left a long time ago. They appear to be aiming at a completely different demographic nowadays, and I just don't get it at all. Call me a boomer (though I'm technically a gen X-er).

* Star Trek is just blah nowadays. I did like Enterprise when that was on, especially the mirror universe stuff. Even Discovery I quite liked early on. Picard though. OH MY GOD THAT WAS TERRIBLE. People in Star Trek don't swear ffs. Picard (the show) in particular COMPLETELY has lost the point of what Gene Roddenbery was putting out there. We'd evolved past that shit of racism and prejudice. To bring it back and saying it was all there underneath all along just pisses on his memory, and that's really disrespectful in my opinion.

I feel like all the new re-do's of stuff is just completely ruining what made those things so awesome back in the first place, due to the "message" of present day. Hate it.

However:
* The Fly remake was excellent, as was many of the 80's and 90's remakes of stuff (eg The Thing, The Blob etc). So not all are bad. Majority though yes.

Lol he completely nails it, that much of what we got when we were kids, just wouldn't get made nowadays due to a mix of political correctness, and it being seen as very big social no no's not to have in a plot. Like you can't have an all male led cast now, as that's seen as sexist. Gah.

oddly enough, I'm kind of indifferent to all the garbage, as more than enough good content already exists to keep me entertained for the rest of my life - in fact, I'm very sure there is more than I can consume in my lifetime. so why would I care that a random moron made something worthless and pinned a name I recognize on it? hey, internet and online reviews exist, so it's not like he can fool me into watching it.

I guess sometimes I just feel like pointing a finger and laughing. hence, this topic, I suppose.

they cannot go back in time and garbagify what already exists, Marty.
6744bc19ab9f6
Well, since there are going to be barely any replayable physical copies of movies around in the age of streaming, not least thanks to companies like Amazon...

I fondly remember this story from the early days of ebook readers:

There already have been cases of perfectly fine movies being banned or edited for new releases to follow these new "guidelines".

yes. but they are not taking the originals off of the internet. they have no power here.

More bad news from the electronic frontier...

tomshardware.com: "TSMC Hikes Price of Chip Production: CPU & GPU Costs Set to Rise"
The world's largest maker of semiconductors will increase prices for virtually all advanced and popular process technologies in a bid to improve its gross margins. Meanwhile, augmented quotes will make costs of products like CPUs, GPUs, SoCs, and controllers higher.

TSMC plans to increase prices of wafer processing using its 7 nm and thinner fabrication processes by as much as 10%, whereas prices of wafers processed using 16 nm-class and thicker nodes will increase by 20% for orders set to be fulfilled starting December, reports DigiTimes citing sources among chip developers.
