But I can't see what the indication is. Could you describe it?

the final Ops email that actually plays. no earlier indication, unfortunately - I think I'll add an ingame build id in the next GOG/steam update, I'm thinking a numerical code right next to the earth grav shaft (ex. 24818092019 would correspond to ND 2.48 patch date 18.09.2019).

I'm sorry, but displaying the engine version in the game world just seems so very wrong to me.

Why not put it on the main menu somewhere?

because I'm lazy and tend to pick the easiest route. hmm, just editing the main menu background? I suppose, will check how that looks (blurry, most likely, as it's 640*480).
