SS2 Crashs When I Run It

I purchased a used copy of SS2 off of Amazon.com. It installs without a single hitch and patches without any problems either. I've manually installed the Windows XP fix, Complemented Rebirth, Straylight, SHTUP and DeepFriedBeer mods as well. However, whenever I try to run the game it crashes immediately after the company logo animations. Any idea as to what might cause this?

You'll need to describe your computer's specs before we can really help you.

From the little information you've given, I can only suggest that you try DDFix.
And if this is your first time playing, I'm not sure I'd recommend any mods other than SHTUP.

Thanks for the suggestion, I can always get rid of the other mods. I plan on playing through it multiple times anyway. Also, thanks for pointing me to DDFix, I'll check and see how that works.

As for my specs, this is what I've got from my xfire account:

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.0GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
Sound Card: SoundMAX HD Audio O
OS: Windows XP Home Edition 5.1

Yes, you have a Geforce 8 series card.  You can't run SS2 properly on that card without DDFix.  (It generally crashes on the latest driver versions.)

It runs! It crashed during the cutscene where you fly up to the orbital space station right after choosing your profession. I'm gonna load it back up and see how it goes again.
