The german version is the only one that sticks to the shtup font since it is made of the english letters. I don't know which font to use for the others.

Considering the exact and clean work of SHTUP these signs are everything but an argument for a localisation. It's not just the fonts, they're just sloppily done.
Don't get me wrong I'm all for a German SHTUP version, but these examples just go to show that the idea of some amateurs slapping translated text on the textures instead of experienced workers translating the source files is a sure way to inferior quality.

I can understand the critics about the russian and japan version, because I used the default font in photoshop for them. The focus there was rather on the translation.
But for the german version I really used the shtup file. I don't see any difference here except the shitty W and M which I had to puzzle out of other letters

But anyway, if you don't like it I will not bother you with it anymore^^

"EINGEDÄMMT" is too long and doesn't fit in the box.  "STRAHLUNG" is also a bit long, as there's not enough spacing around it for it to look right.

Also, to match the style of the English, the "zugang" should probably be in lowercase (assuming it isn't in uppercase on the oiiginal low-res German sign).  Also note that both "access" and "GRANTED" are the same length in the English version.  Again, "GEWÄHRT" is slightly too long and doesn't fit into the box properly.

Eh? Why didn't you use just the SS2 fonts?

Here is a picture of my version and the german lowres. As you can see, in the lowres "eingedämmt" also conflicts with the outline. So I made some kind of hybrid(^^) here by positioning it like in shtup and keeping the "t" as the lasy german translator did(but above the line instead). The same with the other things you mentioned. Its a crued mix. I guess I'm gonna take a new approach by using square721(the right font?) instead of messing around with existing letters.

How can i use this with arcaniac graphics?

I don't know if this conflicts with Arcaniac's mod or not, but just use the Mod Manager. Install this mod first, then Arcaniac's mod.

Yeah, you can if you want. Just copy SHTUP into there first and then copy Arcaniac's mod into it, replacing all files.

I have the same issue Magnus Vile. I also have some random crashes/pink errors in main menu.

\fam\skyhw\acid*.pcx skybox files cause a crash whenever starting a new game or loading a save from a level that uses them.
\fam\skyhw\sky*.pcx skybox files cause a crash whenever loading a save from a level that uses them.

However, I can start a new game with the \fam\skyhw\sky*.pcx files intact, then progress to Von Braun and the game will work.
SS2 will only crash when loading a game from main menu.

I guess these problems are somehow related to ATI drivers? I'm using Catalyst 9.5 on Windows 2003 x64. No ATI Tray Tool, Omega drivers or any similar 3rd party driver tweaks.

On my Windows 7 Home Premium x86 (Nvidia, 186.79 drivers) machine the same SS2 installation works flawlessly.

Have you made the LG.ini modification?  The SS2Tool should do this for you automatically, but only if it's run on the actual computer (e.g. this change won't be copied over between computers with your SS2 install).

Funny. I think you helped me to find a solution to some of my problems!

Yes, I had the LG.ini file and I had the memory allocation set to 4 GB (I have >4GB memory and a 64-bit system so it should've been ok.)
So I did a bit of testing with the memory allocation settings. Long story short, around 500 MB seems to most stable. It causes least "pink menu" bugs and crashes (none at all so far!).

However, the skybox files from SHTUP will still crash the game. I've absolutely no clue what could cause this.

ZylonBane,

a few questions, if you'd not mind:

1) would the next public release be likely to exit Beta stage and become final?

2) could you kindly upload a few screenshots with the latest additions to the project?

3) is there anyone at the moment working on specific assignments (external help)?

Thank you!

What difference does the name make?

2) could you kindly upload a few screenshots with the latest additions to the project?
I'd rather not post any screenshots of new assets until they're available for download. Taunting is cruel.

3) is there anyone at the moment working on specific assignments (external help)?
Not at the moment, no. SHTUP has been taking a long nap while I deal with lots of real world stuff.

It's been so long since the last release, I can barely remember what's new anymore. Does the current version have updated high-res textures on the Tetra-Cool glass doors?

I have a problem. I;m trying to use this mode (clear system shock 2) by using the ModManager, but after completing installation, when i try to run Ss2 it crashes out. What can be wrong? No ideas for me, some suggestions?

Did you follow the SS2 Tech FAQ?
Then you can just extract the SHTUP archive into your "DataPermMods" folder.

ZB, have you thought about making high-res skybox textures, e.g. 2048x2048 or higher?  I'd put that down as a prime candidate for a new DDFix-powered texture.

As an aside, why can't you see Tau Ceti in the skybox anyway?  Is the Von Braun supposed to have moved that far away from it?

Just a "thank you" for all the hard work.

Recently started playing SS2 again as I do every few years with my fav game of all time and this mod is phenomenal.

Oops, I completely missed this post the first time. I've been relying on the recent posts widget way too much, apparently!

I would love to include a high-res, astronomically accurate skybox (with perhaps a little nebular embellishment). But I have no idea what program would be best suited to the task of generating it.
