Not sure if they wrote that into the agreement or not. I believe Otherside has full control over the rights of System Shock 3. But, thankfully, not the entire IP. Nightdive held on to that. Unless further direct sequels was written in to the agreement I think they would have to renegotiate with NDS again if they wanted to do another SS game. Nightdive put a lot of trust in Warren and Neurath when they licensed the rights for SS3. I feel they probably would not have so readily if former LGS people were not a part of the project.

Arkane might have done a good job with SS3 except Bethesda likes to own IP not option them. Otherwise I feel Arkane could have been a good fit.

Also, Karlee posted on Reddit that Nightdive hopes to start an original title after the System Shock remake is done. I take it to mean a new System Shock game. But it is unclear. Nightdive has been making statements to let people know that the 2 studios and their respective projects are completely separate. Unfortunately OSE's post on Twitter and the website news has had a negative impact on NDS. A fair amount of people think that it includes the SS remake and the entire franchise as a whole.

Confused about the status.  Is OSE still developing it and Tencent is publishing?  Or is Tencent actually developing, as well?

I can see how the OSE statement was confusing. It was vague and worded with out much clarification. I believe NDS is working on a official response to OSE's statement just to clear things up

Right now it seems OSE is still developing it and Tencent is the publisher of SS3. As to the exact details of that agreement no one knows.

Thankfully this only extends to Ss3. The rest of the IP is safe with Nightdive studios. Tencent has no claim to pub rights for SS1,2, or any other Shock game NDS works on directly.

I wish Arkane would make a sequel to Prey 2017. That game was really good, and a sequel, with a few changes and additions to the original's ideas and game-play mechanics, could be amazing.

I wish Arkane was making SS3. Prey 2017 is a great game that recaptures the SS2 feel like no other game has.

Tencent just aint gonna do the franchise justice.

OSE confirms it's still involved in development in some capacity. Unclear if Tencent is in a publishing or development role and if any of the previous work will be retained.
