Edit: All the data is just stored in txt files and if a person felt like it they can add the item IDs to the appropriate lists pretty easily

This is EXACTLY what I wanted to hear.

I wonder if there is a way mod makers could supply a TXT file with their mods, which would otherwise go unused, but if you run the tool it would pick it up and randomize those items too.

Been plugging away, I have almost all the data I want (and currently think I need, I probably missed a thing or two). Glad I'm getting this boring bit out of the way first, extracting all the item info and position data I want for everything has been a chore, but once it is done that's a solid chunk out of the way where I don't have to worry about it for a while.

I wish you good luck if you're still working on this, the feeling of never knowing where anything will be in the terror of SS2 may be one of the most intense experiences I can ever think of. Bonus points if Randomized cameras will be included.

I think I may have found a DML/Squirrel solution to this, no external program needed. I really don't want to step on @JossiRossi's toes, though.

Wouldn't be stepping on my toes at all! Having a system that doesn't involve an external program would be far better. I keep starting to work on things and then life slams me back, so progress keeps stalling for me anyway.

Not sure if any of the work I've done would be helpful but I'll gladly share what I have if it would
