I've been trying to figure ShockEd out, and I've been experimenting with all the ways doors can be opened and closed and it made me think:

Would it be possible to put a certain physics object in a tripwire and have that open the given door? Like putting a gun or a hybrid organ in a box or down a chute and have that open a door. I'm relatively new to figuring this out so don't bully me too hard.

pretty sure custom stims/receptrons and/or NVscript could do the trick.

no need, Shocked can manage that just fine all by itself.

Your question is not about doors. Making a door open in response to a signal is beyond trivial. Your actual question is about making a tripwire that only responds to a specific object. I don't believe any of the built-in scripts do that. You'd have to use a custom script.

pretty sure a custom (or rarely used) stim plus NVRelayTrap would work as well - make the quest item emit a stim of a very specific value, set the tripwire/marker with NVRelayTrap to open the door when hit with that specific stim, done.

kind of depends what is easier to use (for him), NVscript or squirrel.

I was just looking at the list of Receptron effects, and it's kind of amazing that among all the 30 or so things you can do, not one of them is to just send a message.

you should know by now that things are never that simple.
