Hello, first time player here.
Finished the install guide for a steam copy of the game and have run SS2TOOL already but now the game has absolutely no audio outside of the intro video and on screen text doesn't appear just and empty black box. This is with no mods installed, and I don't exactly know what's causing the issue.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

did the tool update process finish properly, and is the game outside program files? post your ss2.log (should be inside your SS2 folder).

I'm having the same issue with audio. SS2Tool works fine at first but gets stuck on Data/res/snd.crf. After a while it finishes anyway but there's no sound in the game anymore, and there's no snd.crf in the Data/res folder. The sound was working fine in the game before I ran the SS2Tool.

are you running the German build of the game by any chance?

Well snd.crf on the server is fine. It is the largest file in the game and if for whatever reason it had to be downloaded, then a network problem could have corrupted it.
1. Try running SS2Tool again
2. As voodoo47 hinted at: If you're running a German game try enabling the German translation mod in the mod manager.
3. If nothing works, you should find the backed up version of your original snd.crf in the folder SS2ToolSyncBackup. Copy it to Data/res.

I'm just running standard english Gog. Indeed, rerunning the SS2Tool eventually got it working.
