Thank you.  I will find the recommended mod list (imagine it's on this forum), and try to figure that out.  Thanks so much!
See the Newbie Modding Guide (and read the other sections too, they are important)

I'm nearly finished system shock remake and I want more!  Wondering if I should play the original System Shock 2 or wait for the remaster.  Also, found this place :P

I agree with Sarge; play the current System Shock 2 now, instead of waiting for the remaster (well, it will be more of a modern port than a remaster). We've no idea when SS2 EE will emerge, or what it will change or improve, but the original version with the mods listed on the guide that Sarge links to, is superb. I wouldn't play the game without those mods (especially the really comprehensive SCP, which fixes/changes/improves a million things), instead play SS2 with the mods, and play one of the very best games you will ever play.

If you want more unused stuff that's actually implemented, the gamesys parameter "Inaccuracy (Outdated)" in Skill Params works if it's set to non-zero, it makes all guns spray by default, and spray less as your weapon skill increases until you have pinpoint accuracy at skill 6.

Wow! I'm surprised that no one seems to have written a mod that enables this, it might be a great addition to the gameplay.

I HIGHLY DOUBT it would improve the gameplay, but if you want to check it out, it's probably possible to DML something up for you rather quickly.

Thank you.  I did this and the phone appears to have blue buttons with white text.  Gosh, it looks really crisp for an old game.  I'm on the last level of system shock 1 (bridge), so I'm now really looking forward to continuing the story with 2 soon.  Thank you so much for all yours and others help.  Yay!   :D  XD

Oh, on it's own it would be unbalanced, you're right. And  it would make a game that's already very hard for beginners even harder  :/

But the reason I said 'mod' rather than just something to enable this single feature, is that I think more stuff would have to be thought about and added, to make this feature actually improve SS2's gameplay. This forum is lucky in that some of  it's members (not me, sadly) can really build on basic ideas, suggest changes and improvements, and then implement them. It's always interesting to see new mods for SS2, even if sometimes some of us don't want to use it.

That's really kind of you, thanks, but my life is too busy right now for me to spend much time in a game (I might be the only regular on here who hasn't sunk any real time into the System Shock Remake, between being so busy at work, and renovating the house, I'm starting to miss being bored). I appreciate the offer, though.

New SS2 Enhanced Edition trailer.

Night Dive still not great at making trailers. They at least included the community mods in this one, but most of the footage is of the player looking all aaRRRoouuuNNNddd the screen so it's nearly impossible to focus on anything. And I'm still not seeing the one thing I was looking forward to in this port, dynamic shadows.

no SCP, no Fixed Objects, no dmls. not shooting any guns suggesting muzzle flashes either don't work, or look bad. not terribly impressed by this one.

I'm impressed you are able to spot the lack of fixed objects from the trailer. I couldn't and I made most of them.

1:15 z-fighting on the gurney edge. dead giveaway.

no 32bit lighting says no SCP, unlit wedge light objects say no dmls, lowres tech screens say no SHTUP-ND, just to complete the list.
6740a3eb90653
Didn't NDS say that they would be using SCP with the new version? Or will they be picking and choosing which of SCP's fixes and alterations to include/not include?

And will it include the fan made missions, do we know?

SCP isn't designed to be modular. "Picking and  choosing" would in most cases involve untangling a lot of dependencies.

yes, if you check the first post you will see the list of mods EE will be using. makes sense, as NDS probably are not too keen on replicating some 20 years worth of work.

I'd forgotten about that list, thanks. But given that SCP is on that list too, but not apparently in the preview video, then perhaps that list won't prove to be 100% accurate.

the video proves they can't run any NewDark resources at this point. and SCP is more ND than anything else.

so it isn't that they don't want to, it's that they can't. not yet, anyway.

For example, they might be running the ancient SHTUP Beta 6 in that video instead of SHTUP-ND because their port can't yet handle materials or terrain texture replacement.

yes they are, no hires tech screens = old SHTUP version.

Weird trailer .

I remember reading somewhere that they were going to make new character models? That seems to be the case for the dead hybrid on hydro and the rumbler and the corpses that can be seen in the trailer. But do not seem to be too detailed; the hands are still solid blocks except for the thumbs and the arms look kind of pool noodly and seem to lack elbows. New textures though. The engineering suicide goggles model looks unchanged.

And Shodan is °animecam now. :paranoid: So strange. It's basically the render from the cover but her eyes are glowing like Jaye Davidson's in Stargate.

I'm fine with glowing eyes. What I hate is that they gave her cat eyes for absolutely no fucking reason.

I know. I'm saying the reason for that might be because their port yet doesn't support the NewDark features that SHTUP-ND requires.

The eyelids are opened a little wider and are rounded/more defined. The pupils have the same shape but are smaller and oriented more to the center and the irises have a visible pigment structure and the eyeballs are brightened.

yes, no screwing with the original Shodan face, would you kindly. there is no improvement to be made there, it already is perfect.

I don't think the fixed objects need NewDark to work, or do they?

iirc the latest obj exporter was only tested with ND, and considering how picky oldDark is, I wouldn't be surprised if it just crashed with such an object loaded.
