1.01 is up, Secmod support added to both the vanilla, and Rebirth zip. also, much to my chagrin, I've found out that Polaris, while technically working ok with the mod (meaning, it's applied properly and doesn't break anything), has no spawn points that would actually spawn pipe hybrids, so loading it does nothing.

dml modified Polaris mission spawns to remedy this. so basically, doing the dumb spawn edit to make the smart spawn edit work. hilarious.

99% sure NVscript is not up to date. repatch with the tool in update mode, or grab it here if you want to do it manually (OSM folder).

this will probably only fix future spawns.

also, are other pistol hybrids ok, and it's just this one that's broken, or are they all broken? you should have encountered a few on your way to medsci2 unless the rng was on a vacation.

OMG! This is brilliant. It makes so much sense. It makes me wonder why it wasn't a part of the game to begin with.

they would most likely have to replicate the vanilla shotgun hybrid setup (proper weapon attachments are a NewDark exclusive feature). I'm guessing they were not too fond of that idea - the way the vanilla sg hybrid and its weapon work kind of sucks.

if their game were perfect, this conversation would not be taking place. so being flawed actually is a good thing, as seeing the flaws will create the desire for improvement, which sparks invention and attracts ingenuity, and that drives things forward. if everything was perfect to begin with, there would be no need for any action, hence, all would become nothing in the end. because that is what perfection essentially is - the end of all things.

True enough I suppose. I would be hesitant to call the original game perfect or even polished, there are fundamental issues with the way the game was developed and they certainly rushed to the end, yet they still managed to create an amazing game. Having said that, some of the missing features are inexpiable and having them in the original game makes a lot of logical sense. Which is what I meant.

SS2tool patched SS2 install required (if you have patched your SS2 install before 14 march 2021, you need to run the tool in the update mode to get the latest NVscript).

If memory serves, that's what happens when an AI is missing its CAL file.

Also Vektor is using an outdated version of 400.

yeah, but the CAL is in the package, double checked. so 99.9% sure NVscript is not up to date (as not applying the correct model is exactly what will happen if that's the case). the only other scenario I can imagine here is antivirus shooting down the CAL when extracting, but that is unlikely.

anyway, update NVscript either by repatching with the tool, or manually, and all future spawns should be ok.

seems the pistol hybrid rebirth doesn't work anymore with the newest Rebirth v05b, I'll try to revert to v05 (not b) and see if it works again. maybe that's just me who screwed my mod order idk
-> nevermid even the older one has the same problem... I must have fucked up somewhere while revamping my mod order.. What's weird though, is that shard hybrid works perfectly fine. I'm gonna try new games and swap mod orders, it's going to be tedious, but it is what it is.

set failchance to 0 in gamesys.dml, enter the game, open console and type in summon_obj og-pipe, see whether a pistol hybrid spawns.
