I'm new to the forums, is there anything I need to know?

I bought System Shock 1 on Steam a week ago, and it was really fun. I played with classic controls and thought it was great. I found out about this forum through a post on Doomworld, and now I have an account here. I haven't got SS2 yet, but I plan to soon. Is there anything I need to know about the forums?

People here are generally pretty passionate about this franchise.

There's a lot of modding talent here, too. People like voodoo47, Nameless Voice, ZylonBane, etc. know their shit.

@AtticTelephone Try to stay polite, even if others are not. The member base is relatively small, hence the forum is slow moving (not a lot of posts) but it's steady. If things get boring to you, post something yourself, or come back in two weeks.
Read the About page. The section Unusability explains some special functions of this forum, like acknowledgements.

And some of us made FM's for System Shock 2 ages ago, as well as published games on Steam. Good mix of talents amongst the userbase here. The music threads are worth checking out. Good finds. Reading wise, the "It's interesting to me" thread I recommend.

Some tips:

1. Welcome to the forums. Use the green theme. The brown theme is also okay, but do not use the white theme UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Penalties range from burned-out eyes to sudden loss of any and all will to live.
2. It's okay to find the Rumbler mini-jump to be absolutely adorable
3. Manderley raps
4. Bioshock is not an immersive sim.

I think you're being a bit facetious, but the bright theme has its use during day time and in corporate settings. It's auto selected if your OS has a bright theme, unless you specifically select another.
Personally I keep the auto selection here and toggle my OS theme as needed between bright and dark.

This entire thread is mostly people joking around. I don't really care if people use the light theme or not. I just like the memes that show how light theme is bad for your eyes

Honestly, seriously, use whatever theme you want
