SS2Tool-v.6.1.1.8 Network Error.

Win 7, 32 bit with a solid wireless connection.

But SS2Tool-v.6.1.1.8.exe cannot run due to "Network Error". What's the problem here?

Turned off firewall, nothing. Turned on firewall, allowed access for ss2tool, nothing.

It still doesn't run and displays error "internet connection required". This is getting very frustrating.

we'll have to wait for Kolya the toolmaster, but the usual way of circumventing the "unable to run the tool on one particular computer for no apparent reason" issue is to patch up on a different computer and then move the (now portable) install to the first computer.

I assume the error you get is actually:

So what is ($1) in your case? Because that's the error SS2Tool gets back when trying to establish the connection. Sometimes it's even helpful.

A general workaround is to make sure SS2Tool is inside the game folder and then rename the game folder, in order to create a new path from which SS2Tool runs, which should make Windows firewall throw a new prompt to allow SS2Tool through the firewall. It should work similarly for other firewalls.
Also remember to also allow rsync a little later, but that's not relevant here. This here is SS2Tool trying to establish a standard HTTP connection.

It might be interesting to know if others have problems on windows 7, so far I'm not aware of this being a problem.

win7 here, no issues apart from taking forever to complete sometimes. 64bit, but that shouldn't really matter.

SS2Tool.exe is inside the game folder, which is located at (E:\Games). I've changed the game folder, as you've stated, nada. Disabled virus program, zilch.

I've the gog version, maybe I'll set sail to the high seas and try with a modifed version.

I suggest you copy the game folder to another computer and run SS2Tool there, as voodoo mentioned initially.

maybe try to hardwire the computer to your router temporarily. also, the tool works ok with the GOG/steam build of SS2.
