SS2 references in Soulforge

For the first time in... ever, an actually worthwhile post from the Steam SS2 forums.

This guy noticed that a couple of the storage rooms in Soulforge (Thief 2) are almost identical in layout to storage rooms in SS2. Granted both rooms are pretty basic, but it does seem deliberate. It would be interesting to open up the respective levels in DromEd and see if they're identical or just eyeballed.

Sabotage at Soulforge was designed by Randy Smith, the level design involvement of Randy Smith in SS2 is supposed to have been just the Shodan introduction cutscene, according to the SS2 manual.

When I first got to that room in Soulforge I made the same observation/joke:

The room that matches the Engineering chemical room makes this even more suspicious, though.

Continuing the theme, I was just watching an old trailer for Prey, and noticed this shot, which seems to be a direct copy of the Rec deck swimming pool. I don't recall finding this exact room in the game. There is a similar swimming pool area in the Talos I fitness center, but it's much larger.

might be just a coincidence - swimming pool looks are pretty standardized, I'd imagine.

Yeah I personally felt this theory didn't hold water. Thinking Prey would reference SS2 like that to me felt like it went off the deep end a bit.
