System Shock 2 bug?

Hey everyone, first time playing System Shock 2!

So, I followed the SS2 Newbie Modding Guide and all of the mods have been set to their correct priorities, but there seems to be one issue I'm encountering in-game. Janice Polito's portrait doesn't show up whenever she radios in, but all of the other portraits display just fine when I'm listening to audio logs.

Just to clarify, I didn't install any extra mods that were not included in the SS2 Newbie Modding Guide. I basically just followed those instructions down to the letter and launched the game. Thanks in advance!

disable quest notifier and see whether that helps.

Thanks for taking the time to help! I deactivated quest notifier and it doesn't appear to have helped. Also started a new game just to be sure.

I took a screenshot of the mod manager and the moment when Polito is speaking. It just says "incoming email transmission" at the top.

Ahh. So I think what happened was I saw some gameplay footage and didn't realize they were using a mod that added a portrait for Polito. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything plot related. Sorry for wasting time, but thanks again for your help!

Wait, are you trying to get the functionality of the HUD Logs mod: https://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=10330.0 ?
The quest notifier does not show any pictures, so I'm not sure what you mean when you say that it works for the rest.

What happens when you open a log/email from Polito in your MFD? It should show Polito's face with a purple uniform since SCP beta 5.

Yeah, I saw someone using that mod and assumed that was just how the game was. I was under the impression that it always shows her picture and subtitles whenever she's talking to you in real-time. So I thought I'd accidentally removed a core feature by adding mods.

Turns out everything is working as intended with the mods I have. When I playback her audio logs, it shows her picture.

You could just, y'know, install the HUD Logs mod. The mods listed in the modding guide are recommendations, not a mandate. I don't even install half that stuff.
