That tells me that the crash is happening in a function called RecomputeSources(), which might be useful debugging info for TF.

Re: SS2 TF's Secmod 2.8

Just finished playing through SecMod 2.7. Wow, truly fantastic work! Secmod adds a new dimension and challenge to SS2 gameplay, and I agreed with almost every one of the changes. I especially liked the hybrid enhancements (the melee took some getting used to early on, though!), scramblers, being able to repair turrets, hand grenades, etc. Lots of really nice touches everywhere. Thanks a lot!

(spoilers below!)

Now, a few bugs I experienced:
  • The left-side replicator on command next to the tram had all grenades, and when I hacked it it was all blank items. (Perhaps this was deliberate?)
  • The French-Epstein devices seem to remain in existence after usage. You can put them back into your inventory, at which point they become invisible but still use up a slot; if you pick them up again and throw them into the world they appear to vanish.
  • When I got to the Bridge on the Rick I started to get debug-type messages appearing. These appeared also when I arrived back on the Bridge and during the final sequence. I'm happy to load up my saved games and try to capture them if it would help.
  • The assassins and cameras in Shodan's mind had something weird going on with their death animations - sort of like the "frames" were interleaved - the effect was that their figures tended to alternate between stretching up and down and then out sideways. Once during an assassin death the game crashed so there is something a bit nasty going on there I think.
  • A couple of times when I loaded a saved game there were odd side-effects. The major one was again on the Rick Bridge, once when I loaded a game it put me in the escape pod and Shodan's initial email ("hold where you are...") played again, I guess the level start script was being run. When I reloaded the game a second time it was fine. Not sure if there's anything you could do about this one though as it might be tricky to reproduce. I still have the saved game though.
  • Very minor - when saving in "Where am I?" the saved game title was instead blank.

Now, some comments/critique (my opinions only, salt the fries):
  • Respawning got a bit insane around the tram on Command even on Normal difficulty, particularly after the shuttle destruction sequence was done. It was always heavy with spiders around there in the original, but with SecMod I was getting assassins, midwives, rumblers, spiders and protocol droids respawning almost constantly. In the end I was able to rush through but it felt a little inconsistent with the level of respawning elsewhere.
  • I'm not sure I liked the major change on the Rick bridge. Interesting idea to be sure, and it brought to mind SS1 a little bit :) but given the preceding log it didn't feel all that realistic to me, and it wasn't a particular challenge to get past in any case.
  • Due to the increased difficulty I played on Normal. When I got to the ending sequence Shodan was almost impossible to kill - it was damned hard just getting round to hack all of the stations let alone kill Shodan's head afterwards, mainly because Shodan's head's new attacks are so deadly. In the end I managed to stand near a corner where she couldn't see me and just shoot from there, which seemed a bit like cheating. Perhaps I missed some trick, or the new setup is just not well suited to my Marine-style Navy approach or my lack of the powered armour which I never managed to find (other than the one in the steam bath, that is). Even with END maxed and EndurBoost, if I hadn't had 8 medkits, countless med hypos and speed hypos and quicksaved & loaded a lot I never would have been able to finish the game.

I enjoyed this mod a lot. Thanks again!

Intentional.  That's a new death effect to better match their virtual nature.

Any new developments for my problem. I really want to fight the new SHODAN.
Re: SS2 TF's Secmod 2.8

I've already played through the first two decks with this mod and stumbled upon an annoying bug.
I know you can repair turrets, but something's wrong here:
I first attempted many, many times into repairing the turret (80% difficulty, woopeeh!)
Then, the turrets 'resets' of some kind and allows me to search it. But the turret is still in it's broken state, WITH the top plate on it (thus making it impossible to repair it now).
Also, is it normal that the top plate looks like the one of the slug turret EVEN on top of a laser turret (I put it there ;))?

I hope I get some answers soon, it's not nice to not being able to repair turrets.

SHTUP seems to be causeing the troubles. Deactivating it allows me to enter Command B. I tried the Command Fix you linked and that didn't work either.

I got this mod, but SS2MM tells me it conflicts with ADaoB.  I activated it anyway and played and it seemed like everything was okay, but certain graphics, like the wrench, disappear.

Anyone else deal with something similar?  Should I disable ADaoB?

Yes, you need to disable ADaOB.  SecMod overrides every single file used by ADaOB anyway.

Re: SS2 TF's Secmod 2.8

I've got the same problems like Doooom, sometimes the Turrets are still broken after repairing. In the beginning i thought i did something wrong but after a few reloads it worked. There was also a bug with a replicator on Command Deck, that may be the same as the cannon bug. When I repaired the broken replicator it's skin was still the one of a broken one. After trying again it worked fine. On the same deck I have encountered one hybrid who kept attacking me after he had lost his last hitpoint. O_O After reload he was mortal again. Am I right when I'm guessing that this three bugs are actually one and the same bug?

I don't know if that is normal but the "Vision of the Many" on Deck 1 didn't start when i passed the point where it should take place. Have you removed it or is it a bug?

Another problem is that some items do not have any tooltips. That goes for the "EMP Grenades", the Crystal Shard, the Mod-Psi-Amp, empty injections and some other. Does anyone else have that problem? I use a german version of Shock2, with Rebirth Beta 1 Complemented, SHTUP, DeepFriedBeer Sound Upgrade and some weapon models that do not complain about any compatibility problems. I hope you can help me.

Anyway, it's a great mod. I'm looking forward to the things beyond Deck 4. :-)

The removal of the vision in Engineering was intentional.  I thought it should only have been removed from multiplayer, but oh well...

Okay, I must be some kind of noob, but I still seem to be having problems with this mod.  I've disabled everything else, and when I start a new game it crashes after I finish all the class specifications.  Are there any known bugs with starting a new game with this mod?

Ah ok, so it's no bug. Maybe you could include it in single player again in your next version? But have you got any idea about the other problems i have encountered? Ah, by the way, the weapons can only be modificated with a resolution of 1024x768. With lower resolutions the modification windows is hidden behind the weapon window. Is there any interface mod which is compatible with Secmod and makes it possible to move the windows?

Unicorn: make sure you have a 'Current' folder in your SS2 install.  Though without one the game would always crash at that point, with or without mods.

It's not my mod so I can't maybe include anything. ;)

That thing about the low resolutions is interesting, though.  But why would anyone run at lower than 1024x768?

Hehe, I should have noticed this. ^^

Uhm... I just think it should work with every resolution. Before using Secmod I preferred a 800x600 resolution. In high resolutions the inventory becomes so tiny. ^^ And I guess lower resolutions will improve the framerate on slower PCs since some mods take the engine to it's limitations.

I can't imagine ever purposefully playing a game at a lower resolution than I can run it at, to be honest.
If you can't read the interface at a higher resolution, then you need to get a better screen!   :D

But you're right enough, that is a bug.  I'll have to look into having the modification script check the screen resolution and realign the icons accordingly.

Yeah, I have a "Current" folder... not really sure what's going on.  Should I delete everything and start with a fresh install?

If I were you I would reinstall and then exactly follow the instructions given on this site, using SS2Tool and ModManager.

I'm playing with the SHTUP mod along with the Revamped and Unified compilation mod
and a few retextured weapons and I see I cant use the Secmod due to conflicts.

Yes, Miracle's Unified & Revamped .mis mod is a gameplay changing mod, like Secmod. They're not compatible and using them together will lead to severe errors in the game.
Using SHTUP will be fine, for safety you may want to activate it before Secmod.

Rocketman version, looks better in a lotta ways

It works already, they're getting bloodier the more you hit enemies that bleed :spigot:; though gonna wait to see if there's any multiplayer desync fixes to include too.
