Hi there,

wanted to come back to one of my most favorite forums to find out my account supposedly does not exist anymore. I find it odd, maybe there is a system deleting inactive accounts and yes it was in 2019 I was here for the last time but personally I feel like it was the day before yesterday. And why would there be a need to purge the few accounts this database possibly holds?

yes, there is, and everyone seems to hate it, but somehow it's still integrated into the forum software. probably to keep the database lean.

an admin can fix this manually.

3. How long do we keep this data?
If you stop logging in to the forum your account will be deleted after 3 years of inactivity.
You will receive an email warning beforehand, that will allow you to prevent this in time.
In your profile's account settings you may disable this inactivity check, allowing us to retain your login data indefinitely.
Your recorded IP-addresses are deleted after a year.

This means that your account would have been automatically removed two years ago and longer than we would retain our routine backups for.

I know that you have confirmed your account identity so I have assigned the previous posts to your new account.

That e-mail warning must've dropped in spam or ads or something, actually PM notifications recently did so that must have been the case.
Thank you for the linking.

I’ve spent days awkwardly crammed between my desk and wall, reconnecting wires, with plenty of Doc Brown moments.
