My thoughts on the Windows 7 beta (build 7000)

Tags: °windowsI recently downloaded the Windows 7 (also known as Blackcomb and Vienna), because of the reviews it was getting. Here are my thoughts:

It's not separated enough from Windows Vista. It's actually the same code- base. They should have just made it an update.

The compatibility is MUCH better than that of previous versions.

It's not as much of a system hog as Vista, so that's welcome.

The GUI is well done, especially the new thumbnail view.

I was successful in getting SS2 running. In fact, without patching. But, 2/3 of the time it crashes on a level change. With the patch, it runs fine (Well, as fine as it can on my 8800GTS).

I had no idea the beta came out until just now.

I just checked the Windows 7 website and their beta distribution servers are down
Too many people want to see if Windows 7 is any better than Windows Vista, since Vista was a trainwreck in my opinion.

You mean Windows NT 6.1.

Windows 7 is NT 6.1's marketing name. Just like Vista was NT 6.0's.

i heard that its very more stable than windows vista and plus the desktop looks very good

It looks fine I guess, but I'm more worried about functionality than I am looks.
