Well, looks like TTLG is down for a while. That sucks.

Indeed, they should go through with the commercial hosting imo. A site that has as many members as TTLG shouldn't go down for as long and often as it does. And personally I'm willing to donate for that. Also image attachments and a dark colour scheme would be really cool.

Don't be sad vrap. Mother TTLG will be back once she's earned enough money in the seedy dimlit sidestreets of the internet.

One has to wonder why they bought new HDDs only for the server to crash harder just a few weeks after.

It seems unfortunate, yeah. But no one actually knows what happened, since the one person who has access to the server could not be reached yet.

I don't even know where/how make a donation for the new hosting package.
675111578ef1c
It's not possible yet, because the Paypal account has to be "cleared" for donations somehow and the only person who can do that atm is the same person who is missing.

Just for the record: How much money does SBF consume every month? Considering the age of TTLG and its users, donations shouldn't be any problem methinks.
675111578f18b
SBF currently costs €13.50 (~$18) per month. Bandwidth usage: ~14GB of 50GB included with the hosting plan. We've done pretty well with outsourcing large files after we went down once.

TTLG will cost £66-£100 ($92-$140) per month. Their current bandwidth usage is likely somewhat under 1000GB/month, their future bandwidth usage with all new features will be more like ~1500GB/month.

Note that I merely estimate TTLG's numbers from David's message about their future hosting. ("host requires between £800 and £1200", "Min 1TB monthly transfer. Preferably 2TB.") So their actual bandwidth might vastly differ.

EDIT: By the way, with some luck TTLG will come back tomorrow (Tuesday), unless something really serious happened to the server. Someone will be able to take a look at it tomorrow anyway.

Hm, pretty steep figures - must be the FM-craving Thief crowd. It seems the SHOCK users don't care that much.

It's probably just those drunken TTLGers F5-ing another flamewar every evening.

I know I do.

TTLG doesn't host any FMs.

I thought that whole thief-thecircle and thiefmissions stuff is also hosted by TTLG? If not, where does that much bandwith usage come friom? It's just a small message board.

€: Fine, they're back.

25,000 members?  (Okay, most of those aren't "real", but still.)

Thiefmissions was never related to TTLG, Thief-TheCircle is but it doesn't host the FMs itself, only links to them.

Anyway Dave wants to go back to being able to host all the files on TTLG, including FMs.

Seems more like sqrt(25000) to me. :D

Hm, nice. Fortunately the SHOCK community is pretty much organized already thanks to SBF.

There are definitely a lot more than 158 members.

Within the carrier's buffer, however, it expands at a geometric rate.
