How best to play SS2 (mods)

Hello, Ive recently installed shcok2 and Ive just started playing. In your opinion(s) what mods should I download to enhance the playing experience while staying true to the vision of the original game? TIA for advice

SHTUP, ADaoB, Tacticool Weapon Replacements, Eldron Psi Amp. Possibly Rebirth if you cannot bear the low poly enemies, although Rebirth strays pretty far from the originals, so try with and without it. These mods are all compatible with each other.

What about it? It's a cool mod, but definitely not true to the original game. It doesn't try to be. Secmod is for vets who know SS2 inside out and need a change.

Bah, it needed nerfing. You should never be able to take down the most powerful enemy in the game with just 3 shots.

In any case, I'm getting the impression that "reading" isn't really The Black Devil's strong suit.

As for the Secmod, I see it conflicts with a lot of other mods, even the graphical ones.
Any ongoing progress on it now?

Not at the moment I think. But even if there was, development time wouldn't go into making it compatible with other mods most likely.
