Hi there

There's a little experiment I'd like to try, but since I don't want to break my installation and force a reinstall (you never know), I'm asking first.

See, I want to make hybrids faster and more dangerous in Christine's campaigns (even on Impossible, they are pathetically slow in close combat) and I was thinking of replacing vanilla motiondb.bin by an updated one (e.g. TF mod). Do you think it could work?

If you did want to do that you'd just need to back up the original motiondb.bin file before making changes. Far easier though would be to give the hybrids a time warp boost in the gamesys (creature -> time warp)

It'll work just fine, backup your motiondb.bin first obviously.

You can do the timewarp thing but if you do they'll run, gesture and fall to the ground faster as well which looks goofy, not to mention that as you increase that timewarp value they would end up moving at lightspeed in all other respects before some of their really crappy and slow attack animations actually became fast enough.
I tweaked only the attack animation speeds in the motiondb so this wouldn't happen.

So far, so good. Since I have no idea how to config the time warp thing, I've replaced motiondb.bin and tested it with UNN Nightwalker and it is already an improvement, though I wish it was that simple to completely merge gameplay mods with Christine's campaigns. I'm getting tired of playing vanilla SS2 again and again.

Anyway, does your custom motiondb.bin affect other NPCs as well? I assume the Saurians and the Ice Beasts use the Rumbler's movement pattern or whatever you call it but you can never be too sure.

Most everything has been tweaked to be honest, remember that you can always bring in your old motiondb if you don't like how something moves.
