total n00b/first time playing--what mods should i use?

title explains most.  i want the best game experience without spoiling the core game.

--i'm pretty sure i want SHTUP, which seems entirely true to the original textures, except higher resolution, right?
--i think i want ADaoB.  It sounds like a community bug fix that won't spoil the core game experience...right?
--i'm pretty sure i don't like rebirth.  it looks kind of cool, but it still looks eight years old, and the models seem to have a very different "character" to them.  then again, I've only played enough to kill two zombies with my wrench.
--what else?

Hey I was just on the forums, waiting for someone to decide to play with me on multiplayer, the way I have my stuff set up is I got the game from mininova.org, the repacked SS2 torrent. The mods I use is SHMUP 1.1, SHTUP Beta 6, DFB's Sound Upgrade V.3b, ADaoB Beta 0.2.7, Tacticool's weapon replacements, and Rebirth. I'm not sure where you got your game from though so I wouldn't know what you have. Some of my mods are outdated, but they work better with my setup and there aren't any incompatabilities.

Edit 2: Rebirth is actually a pretty good mod, it makes all of the game characters look better.

SHTUP, SHMUP, Eldron's Psi Amp and Tacticool's weapon replacements.

Don't play multiplayer on your first game no matter if anyone tries to convince you otherwise.  The game needs to be played singleplayer first, or you'll spoil the atmosphere.

I wouldn't recommend Rebirth for a first run through.

ADaOB is also debatable, especially considering that the latest version is a little buggy.

mr. death, as yet i am inclined to agree with nameless voice; i am absolutely on the edge of my seat playing through for the first time.

when i finish the game, though, i will certainly be looking into the multiplayer.  thank you for the invitation
