To be fair, it was most likely to protect against people renaming files and accidently erasing their extensions. Plus, I think it's pretty likely that anyone who gets duped by a file like that probably wouldn't know enough to see a problem if extensions were enabled.

But anyway, yes, just do as NV instructed.

alright, heres whats going on. i installed the game on an xp and used the alternative method(data permanent mods). the arcaniac graphics pack works fine aside from a minor control problem i'm experiencing which i reported in the mods thread.

Once you show the file extensions, then when you click Rename to change the name of the file, change the part after the dot to ss2mod.
