Episode 2 has been released!

Episode 2, besides being a longer game, also contains several changes, such as an option for shorter narrations, a better walking animation for Graham and more. The current Episode 2 download contains a patched version of Episode 1 that incorporates these changes. A download for Episode 2 only will be made available sometime next week.

I fixed the link Enchantermon posted although it seems to me downloading the episodes from the tsl-game.com site is easier.

Looks solid. Will newcomers to the series be able to understand and appreciate the game and the storyline?

What was wrong with my link?

It's hard to say. I would recommend playing the original games first before delving into The Silver Lining. Fortunately, that's not such a tall order anymore; for $30 on GOG you can obtain the entire series fully playable on modern operating systems. You can also buy the King's Quest Collection from Vivendi on Steam or through Amazon and the like, though you may have to do a little fiddling with it to get the games to run flawlessly on Vista or 7 (and the collection doesn't include Mask of Eternity).

It was broken, double http and weird quotes, see the post history.

Any word on when the stand alone episode downloads will be available?

Oh, heh, forgot about the history. That's bizzare; I don't know how it ended up like that. Thanks for fixing it.

None, interestingly. However, all future episodes will be standalone versions, so it may be worthwhile to just download the Episode 2 pack now, even if you already have Episode 1.

EDIT: I just talked with one of the PR Manager/Co-designer on the Phoenix forums; she said the following:

We're focusing mostly on getting Episode 3 ready right now; I know we want to have a stand alone Episode 2 download, but I'm not sure when it will be ready.
So there you go. She also said an announcement will be made when the separate download is available, so if you keep checking their website, you'll find out. :)

You're welcome. However, after that discussion another team member posted that there may not be a separate download after all. You can follow the thread here.

Nuts that will stink. I will keep checking. Thanks again!
