After installing SSTool version 3.2, the game starts up normally and even runs videos without a problem, which I'd given up on trying to work in the Dark engine.  However, after clicking New Game and loading the first level, my screen turns solid white.

It isn't crashing.  I can ESC back to the menu just fine.  The game is actually running; the ambient sounds are playing fine, and if I hold 'W' to move forward, I get the "Welcome to the Ramsey UNN Recruiting Center" speech.  I just can't see anything.

Searching hasn't revealed anyone else with this problem.  Is this something specific to my PC, or could it be somehow caused by the most recent update?

It's a ddfix setting we haven't figured out a universally working value for.

In ddfix.ini find:
OverlayColourKey=0xffffff
Try replacing it with: OverlayColourKey=0xf81f
Or try commenting out the setting by prefixing it with a semicolon.

Okay, I figured out the problem, see the new SS2Tool release 3.3. Sorry for the inconvenience.

An even better solution - frameratewise - would be to comment out these two settings:

;UseSysMemOverlay=2
;OverlayColourKey=0xf81f

This should work on most systems, but older Intel chipsets. We're still trying to find out the perfect settings, you see.

Don't you listen to a single word he says, I may not be living but I know my wires aren't dead.
