Thanks. And yes I do think that. Looking forward to see the first iteration of SCP.  :D
And there is no unity to SCP, it's VoodooBane's project. I'm sure they themselves have their disagreements.

Ah, that explains it. I think Kolya starting the thread and the community bit threw me off.  :)

Well, it is built off of other peoples work, and I'm sure others make small contributions. I could be wrong....

I wouldn't make too many assumptions about the members here... there's usually more to something/someone than meets the eye.  Throwing around statements about monopolization is neither warranted nor accurate.

I havent gotten the impression that it's OMG YOU DISAGREE HERETIC! Overal this thread really does feel like 'Ok let's talk this out like reasonable people.' Kinda spooky really.

But really having to unload or not is a quibbly minor issue.

*would much rather see hybrids that use other weapon equips like from secmod. IE Pistol hybrids, wrench hybrids, ASSAULT RIFLE hybrids, etc.*

You guys are hurting your case by trying to bring up different versions of hybrids.  It really should just be a clear cut case of maintaining vanilla.  The fact that this is debatable should mean it defaults to original functionality.  Voodoo had previously stated that SCP would be more in the spirit of vanilla than ADaoB was, and would only contain fixes that Looking Glass themselves would have made.  If you want to make Secmod v3.0, that's fine, just be upfront about it.

Sorry Conflicted, sometimes it's just fun to run with an idea a little. I concur with your points, they are better reasons than mine for keeping in those gameplay elements. But I've had my say and Voodoo was really clear about his own views. I'm resting my case now.

Sorry....but you're part of it too,, aren't you?

Yeah, well, no more assumptions now. Looking forward to the next release.

If you mean SCP development then no.  My only contribution is to provide feedback as I see fit, just like you or any other member.  Sometimes those making the changes agree with a suggestion, sometimes not but it's not that they agree or disagree as individuals.  They are charged with making progress so that everyone else can benefit from the improvements.  That's a big responsibility because it involves exercising judgement as to which changes result in the greatest good for the largest demographic.  What may appear as a difference of opinion between a member and a developer has nothing to do with their personal views and if it happens that way, it's coincidental.  Voodoo and ZB (among others) have been challenged plenty of times and sometimes they concede, if a good enough arguement can be made.  They have our best interests, I assure you.

I just launched another game to check different situations for the lazer pistol bug.

It seems like : when you load the game the bug is not here, but when you reload a save without closing the game, the bug is here, and it can take 2 forms :

-or you can't see your weapon when you switch from OVER to NORM after firering an OVER shot.
-or the game crashes after doing the same thing.

Since I am a huge fan of energy weapons, I would love to see this bug fixed... I didnt tested it without tacticool, i will do it now to see if tacticool has a conflict problem.

SCP returns the laspistol into its original form, so the problem does not exist anymore.

You mean the lazer who shots projectiles instead of hitscan ? that's a good news :) SO if I understand well, the next version of ADaoB will not be called ADaoB anymore, but SCP ? like, SCP v1.0, that's right ?

Currently playing / delaying through SS1 as slowly as possible so I won't have to wait for SCP too long afterwards. No pressure. :P

That's sad, one of my favourite changes to the original. The name just doesn't make any sense.

I never played vanilla SS2, only ADaOB, so I'd like to ask what is the difference between vanilla and ADaOB regarding laser pistols?

+1. very cool laser effect. I did like the little blobs of plasma too but the laser is better.

Well, a laser pistol should emit actual light, not some blob travelling at 0.0000001c which is how the original behaves. At first, Straylight changed the name to the controversial "plasma pistol", which was renamed to "laser pistol" again, emitting an actual light beam (I think that was taken from SecMod but I'm not sure).

Thanks, I had no idea that vanilla laser pistols were shooting with slow blobs. Sounds lame ;)
Re: SS2 Straylight ADaoB v0.3.0

I can get behind that. Makes more sense, plus I agree the blob was always a little.. off.

True for the blob, BUT the blob had a pointlight ! which makes cool lighting effects :)

Christ, you mewling whiners. The point of a community patch, a patch intended to be acceptable to everyone, is to FIX BUGS ONLY. The behavior of the laser pistol in ADaOB wasn't a bug fix, it was a major change to its functionality, from a projectile weapon to a buggily-implemented hitscan weapon. So that change is out. The end.
