Just noticed: The portraits are all stretched because the images have different dimensions than the portraits from SS2.
But since you mention the Voice of the Resistance: It might be a nice idea to mirror that and update it with MP3 files. If Digital Nightfall agrees, that is.

first post updated with english logs.

I fixed the image sizes so they won't be stretched anymore, pointed the report link to this thread and removed the flash sound (that wouldn't load there and wouldn't fit anyway).
Most of the English log subject lines are still German.
And 2 images are still missing:

Fixed McDaniel, had a typo. I have no picture of Rosen. Removed Morris and Lansing for now. Must take a look at the order of their mails first.

A few remarks (sorry for being a pain in the ass):
  • "../slapslap/images/pixel.gif" is broken in all sections.
  • Portraits aren't of the correct aspect ratio in the French section so they appear distorted (58x84 instead of 64x52).
  • If you can, also replace "Par: / Pour:" as translations of "From / To" with "De : / À :", which is the French email standard.
    • Also, French language always puts an unbreakable space before the colon character so if you can mass-replace those it'd be great, if not, well it's not a huge deal.
  • English and French sections display inconsistent dates for some logs. For instance, sometimes you still use the German "OKT" instead of "OCT", or MAR with an umlaut ;).

@Kolya yeah it's definitely weird in French, even for a native speaker. SHODAN seems even more spiteful and crazy in French, if that's possible.

Besides SHODAN though, I must say that the whole translation is of surprisingly poor quality, at times distorting or outright contradicting the original version because of what I think was a bored and too literal translator. Voices are even worse, not having been introduced to either the game or cyberpunk tropes, you can tell that they didn't know what most of what they were reading meant, sometimes not even reading the correct word. The French version of Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri is a chef d'oeuvre next to that. :D

The German version of SS1 isn't very good either (except for the manual), unlike German SS2, which is probably as good as it gets with this type of localisations.

A few remarks (sorry for being a pain in the ass):

This is my fault, I'll fix it. It's part of a robot-trap that is now disused IIRC.

EDIT: Done.

    Done (if  I understood correctly^^)

Done. That was because I took the german version as a base and didn't notice.

I wouldn't say that any of the versions is very good; from a todays standard of course. But I like the amateur stilish vibe. After all this is from a time when talky versions were a new thing.
