Yeah, I guess there should be one. Maybe I can whip it up tonight. At the latest it will come out early next week.
I'll probably raise the version number to 4.0, because it is a major update that will have little to do with the 3.x branch in the bug fix section. I'll definitely keep the 3.x branch around as an alternative.

Wow! I don't understand half of what the changelog is talking about, but I don't care; this looks epic!

Thought I'd give this a try and no problems so far. I'm finding a few of the ShockEd changes annoying at the moment but I guess it'd just take time to adjust. Seems there's no back compatibility either, but i guess most everyone will be using the new version anyway. Tried running a few levels through the 'new' renderer and it's quite an improvement. I'd guess there will always be the problem of having unstripped levels otherwise I'd probably reprocess the lot. Anyway, a few screenshots with the new rendering enabled. Obviously none of the other potential graphical improvements are present so it's basically just old stuff run through the new renderer.

Are this screenshots from a System Shock fan map? If they are, what is the maps name?

Yeah, but unreleased ones. I couldn't really think of anywhere in particular to take screenshots in the originals to show any new stuff off, and I've seen a couple from the demo anyway, but since I'll definitely do a replay over the weekend I may take some shots then.

The hi res videos where did they come from, they seem to be using retextured models for the hacker and npcs...as a matter of fact I would like to pimp my SS2 with as many hi quality mods as possible

Does it make sure the DX9 DLL is installed?

yeah, DX9 and VC++2008 check would be nice.

And a check for NOT being installed in "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)".

Possible bug.  The broken use issue seems to be fixed EXCEPT for med hypos.  I can't seem to use them.  Weird.

edit:  I can use other types of hypos......

Let me guess. You're playing a pre-patch savegame?

Actually no.  A virgin reinstall, just for 2.4.  Only thing that I can think of is that I used 3.6 version of the SS2Tool or perhaps ADaOB.

Reinstalled using the newest SS2Tool (4.0) and problem is solved.

Just wanted to share that I tried this patch on my Mac laptop (Intel graphics only) with Wineskin, and it runs without a problem. All my earlier attempts at installing SS2 was unsuccesful (either it didn't run or were unplayably slow). Installation is trivial now. Thank you Kolya for including this in SS2Tool.

Le Corbeau has posted a hex fix for the Thief 2 and System Shock 2 editors. As has already been found out, this fix pertains to objects not casting shadows in sunlight previously.

- Original post by Le Corbeau
- Relay by DrK on TTLG

Accordingly I have updated the following downloads in the first post:
- ss2_v24.zip (the System Shock 2 update)
- SS2-v2.4_Thief2-v1.19.torrent (the complete update release)

Note that this fix only applies to the editors, not the games. There is no change necessary to the SS2 demo or to the SS2Tool or to your running game.
Also note that this thread is for discussion of the update. Please post any support requests to the Helpdesk forum.

Hello!

I tried the SS2 demo provided in the first post (it was very good) and now I want to play the full game.

Before installing the full game, I want to make sure that any residuals from the demo (for example: registry entries) are completely eliminated.

How can I uninstall it completely? From other posts here, I understand that the proper method - even for uninstalling the complete version of the game - is to simply delete its folder.

I initially thought that the same should apply to the demo version. However, I noticed that after running (even without admin privileges) demo's "Shock 2.exe", it creates automatically a shortcut for the game in the special "Games" folder of Vista/7. So this item also needs deletion.

Any other residuals that need elimination?

Thanks for your time (and helpful site)!

I can tell you that whatever trace of the game is left behind from the demo (outside of the main game folder) won't have an effect on any future install of the full game.  There might be a record in the registry that the game is "installed".  There might be a shortcut as well but beyond that I can't think of anything else and neither of the aformentioned are going to cause you any grief.  I'd just blow away the shock folder from the demo and then add the full game.
