System's on a bug-hunt, look out!

I know, but can you fix that?
I can't.

Replace fam/acc/mtlbeam5c.png with this one.

See, that's the one thing that sucks about this whole anonymous patch thing. That surface sorting issue looks like a legitimate bug but who do we even report it to? That is unless said anonymous person actually browses this board and HAPPENS to notice the post about it.

there is a good chance that the Raven watches from somewhere - remember, he posted the dromed shadow fix virtually hours after it has been discovered on TTLG. most people report the issues on the forum in the hope he is still watching - all we can do is do the same.

anyway, the issue on the fourth picture is already fixed in the wip map pack.

yeah, no idea what that screen is supposed to represent.

I don't get it...
Either he was talking about the cloudiness of the glass, or the look of the striped lines beyond the glass.  :\

ACC, I beg of you... please fix this texture?!? Pretty please?

yeah, that one is like "nobody really pays attention in the training phase, so lets just slap on some texture, a reaaal ugly one, so we can go home early today."

I'm sure it was a perfectly lovely texture before it got posterized like that. 256-color palettes aren't kind to subtle gradients.

I personally think that redoing training-only textures should be last on the list.

Just smoothing out the posterization on that texture, without up-rezzing it or anything, would take like 5 minutes.

I will. I'm on a short break right now (I swear it's not up to me) -- got a few more textures in operations to prove it.
Anyway, (I think) some of theses textures are also part of the Rickenbacker, so don't worry, it's going to happen.
(trivia: last time I checked, screens apart, four hundred coverd like 1/3 of the textures)

yeah, that one is like "nobody really pays attention in the training phase, so lets just slap on some texture, a reaaal ugly one, so we can go home early today."
(I LOL'd. Hard. :awesome:)

I know this thread is primarily for bug reports, which I will be submitting later...

SHTUP and Four Hundred seem to have similar goals. Will the two ever merge?

I would love to help complete the texture upgrades for both mods but I'm not sure if upgrading a texture for one will just be doing more work than is necessary to give SS2 those lovely hi-res textures we are all looking for.

no. 400 updates world textures, SHTUP updates object textures. merging them would be counter-productive.

Huh? I'm confused as to what is world and what is object.

So this is an object?

Does this have an object (the sign above the door) and a world texture (the door itself)?

I don't do any modding, even though I have read some topics in MOTHER, so I don't fully understand the concepts between the two.

One has to do with architecture.  When you carve out the level and slap a texture on the surface of a wall or something that belongs to the level architecture, that's one thing.  If you put a box in the world, that's an object and the texture it gets is treated entirely differently from the one on the wall.

Thanks RocketMan! I have read the basics of carving out levels so I understood that part.

So the geometry of walls floor and ceiling are considered world, and anything that's not "carved" out of the universe is considered object?

There is also this image from Four Hundred...

http://gaarabis.free.fr/_acc/_Shock2/02gallery/Ops.jpg

If you look at the top right-hand portion of the screen there is the animated spinning tri-optimum logo that is in the 4x sample. Wouldn't that be considered not a world texture? If they are then the animated display terminal panels would also be textures that can be applied to wall/floor/ceiling geometry. Which I had a funny feeling were part of another mod...

Keep it up guys. You're doing awesome in keeping an Old Gem looking as good as reasonably possible while maintaining the look it originally had.
