I know.

For you see, it was I that originally submitted those links, as a guest.

Another afternoon wasted making cheap photoshop montages.

If I start a punk band remind me to ask you for flyers.
Is "Dead Scientists" taken as a band name?

System shock the movie by Matt D.

Looks like an awesome movie, if you fill in the gaps that only go on in this kids imagination.

Haha, nice. Reminds me of that old Penny Arcade comic where Tycho hides in a closet and fights off a woman/midwife with his coat hanger/plasma gun. Can't find the comic right now.

Very daring proof of concept :P Honestly, though, kudos to this kid if he actually finished System Shock and was inspired to make this. I know I never would have been able to do so at his age.

Somebody make an edit with the cyber interface over the screen and send it to him. I'm sure he'd f*cking love that.  When I was his age I was making really shitty Lego Minecraft videos.

WTF, you don't get to "when I was his age" anything from at most four years ago.

Although suddenly most of your behavior makes sense.

Uh, okay? Cool, I guess.

What I'm trying to say is, how am I supposed to take that?  Am I supposed to take that as "stupid kid, I wish he'd shut up," or "Oh, so that's why he has that kind of tone."???
Do I annoy you or something?

In addition, why can't I say "when was that age?"  You were a (probably angsty) teenager once.  Did you never think about stupid stuff you did when you were ten or twelve and cringe, thinking "I can't believe I said/did/thought that?"

Of course, ten years from now, I'll probably look back on this and cringe.

Age is highly logarithmic and yes, you probably will  :)

Shit.  Lost control of my hormones for a second there.

I recently found a forum post I made in 2004 roughly along the lines of that. I concluded that I was right, and little has changed for the better since.

Damn, Aurora, that's pretty dark. There's good stuff in life too, though - like System Shock and this very forum!

And I'm sorry you got ZylonBaned, chickenhead.

Indeed there is always fiction, and especially science fiction. Immersion in a digital fantasy world can get one through the darkest times of life. Such times are also the perfect opportunity to withdraw inside and occupy oneself with a creative process. System Shock especially was a product of an era where video games ventured into the unknown, unfamiliar, and unreal, where the theme was limited only by the designer's imagination. These days they are trying to copy real life onto the screen simply because they now can.

Awesome how a topic starting with 'Funny' is being perverted to weltschmerz.  :headshot:
6744c1f2a1e71
The two are closely related. Watch any good stand-up comedian and you'll notice they talk about painful experiences almost all the time. The laughter comes from the pain being so familiar yet distanced through someone else's perspective.

If you cannot find the fun in Weltschmerz you're probably taking yourself too serious at the moment.

SS2 is 6th (3:54), but their choice of some mods is.. questionable. but bonus points for using SHTUP (making the big reveal look much better), and Shodan's face for the video's thumbnail.

Mass Effect 2 at #1 over System Shock 2, Deus Ex and New Vegas. At least the list includes those aforementioned games at all though. Wouldn't expect it from one of those generic list channels.

I was also happy to see System Shock 2 and Deus Ex on that WatchMojo list, especially considering they could have subbed in Human Revolution for the original. Bit disappointed to see no S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but it is questionable whether it could actually be considered an RPG.

Points to the speedrunner for including an angry Zylonbane comment, heheh. Is M1 a member on this forum?

Either way, he really knows the game very well.
