yeah, youtube is going nuts with that lately, even things like an algorithm claiming a video of one guy for another guy, despite the video not containing anything that would warrant such a step, and the second guy not actually wanting to claim it, iirc.

and good luck trying to get a claimed video back unless you are one of the big dogs.

I'm actually quite interested to see whether this decline in creator friendliness is going to spawn a second big player, some sort of "youtube without all the bs" service.

I sooooooo want that, and I feel that something like that is needed. It's all just too corporate now, with the biggest issue being that "fair use" is not factored in at all.

If even a few seconds of a song is used that's copyright infringement (to them), even if it's something in the background. For example, I did a lets play of Far Cry 5 and you'd often pass radio's which would have music playing. Every single video, I put up where that happened even for a few seconds I'd get copyright claimed, where they wanted 100% of the ad revenue from a 2 hour video due to 3 seconds of audio. I fought every one of those. Won most. A few I ended up muting those bits.

AC Odyssey I finished a month ago (roughly) and got copyright claimed on several videos by not even Ubisoft, but BMG due to the soundtrack being available for sale. I contained Ubisoft about it directly. Got a response, to contact their tech team who would investigate, so did that and never got a response. It's complete bullshit, where they know what their doing is illegal (in not factoring in fair use) but do it anyway to claim all of the revenue of a video when barely any of it is their content, as they know that barely anyone has the balls to take them to court over it. Of those that have, all of them won against the megacorps.

We need an alternate, but with the internet being quite different now, and more corporate controlled. I really can't see that happening.

I'm sure I've told this story before, but I put up music videos for the music I developed for Bipolar to Youtube and got copyright claimed, even though their my content. The program I developed the music in (Sony ACID Music Studio) has a big document within it that in detail explains that any music you develop in that program using the sound loops that they provide for free is 100% yours legal wise. So I told the guy that, and very strongly emphasized to that if he didn't back off that I was in my full legal right to sue him (as I am the legal owner of it). He very quickly removed his claim on my videos.

I dunno why but I love that one. Just has a good rhythm to it. And that's despite the odd stripper related stuff in it. The way they put his movements into related SS2 stuff, it just works.

Aww dang, I was hoping more of Chepley's videos would have been saved. He said in the SS3 Discord server or so that he had deleted his YouTube because he was "frustrated with the management" or whatever. Sucks, his Discord's been deleted too.
