I know I am not a respected member of this community (yet) so I hope I am not stepping out of line by creating this post

The idea was proposed in the topic about Modmanager:

Once you're done with the mod manager, what about adding something to set all the stuff which you can only be set through config files?
IMHO it would be a nice addition.
My idea would be something like this.

There is a consensus that it should be a separate project, I posted images of sample GUIs/Frontends from other games, the nicest one is for Crysis 2:

In New Dark Engine patch there is a txt file "new_config_vars.txt" which describes in detail all the variables and their parameters, this could be very helpful resource for the configurator - I cannot attach files, so here's the link: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=mKxQikAm

And let me finish up with an optimistic quote:
Ahhh nifty looking program. I certainly don't mind looking into making a configuration manager after I get the mod managing dealt with. I love having little programming projects to distract me from work or my larger personal projects.

I wonder why not one of the projects mentioned here or in the other thread had its source code released. Is there a sort of grand prize for best-coveted small community project code?

Zeebok pointed at the github for the modmanager. And for this there probably is no code yet.

I was referring to the creators of all the config tools posted here, not Zeebok's work. He's cool. :)

I did not do any research and I am no coder, but I suppose there must exist somewhere a configurator for a game which has open source code. Or perhaps the author of one of such tools would share the source code, if asked.

Well, there's the Nexus Mod Manager but that's a little bit overkill.

.
That is greatest reason for me to get serious about making it!
