This is a remake of an early computer game. It has both an online (Java) and downloadable version.

Hunt the Wumpus is a game of strategy and logic. You need to carefully predict where the Wumpus is hiding by studying which rooms have bloodstains and which do not, all the while avoiding the slime pits that mean instant death if you accidentally wander into them.
In some ways it is similar to Minesweeper, in that you have to work out where the Wumpus and hazards are by looking at what is around them, without ever actually being able to look directly, as that would kill you.

You play a lone hunter seeking to liberate a village from the predations of the Wumpus. Entering the twisting caverns, you must avoid slime pits and the unpredictable bats in your search. Bloodstains on the floors warn you that the Wumpus slumbers nearby, and when you've determined the beast's location, you have one chance to fire your arrow. Succeed and the threat of the Wumpus is ended. Fail, and you become the next victim of the Wumpus.
