As a big fan of deathmatch style first person shooters, I really like the fast action, non-class based old style games such as Unreal Tournament (original 1999 game) and Unreal Tournament 2004.

One of the great things about these games is that they come with the tools to create third party levels and mods, and as a result there are quite a few levels from other games that have been remade for UT99/UT2004/Quake 3 etc. Games such as Doom, Quake, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, etc, all have levels that have been ported (unofficially, of course) into UT99/UT2004/etc. Some of my favourite UT99 maps are (very well made) versions of Goldeneye, and UT2004 has some great recreations of classic Perfect Dark maps, and I've been wondering if anyone has remade any System Shock or Bioshock levels for other games?

I'd love to fight in the UT universe around the Rickenbacker/Von Braun, or Rapture's varied levels, and surely some fans of the Shock games must also love the Unreal Tournament games, and have had a go at porting or recreating favourite levels into the UT games?

Probably here: http://www.zerker.ca/zzone/category/levels/ut/

Maybe someone wants to contact Ryan, ask him if we can host his System Shock related levels here and then create a thread for them with descriptions, images and downloads? I'd move that thread into the System Shock board later.

EDIT: Atropos beat me to it.

Thanks for the links, and I agree, Kolya, that it would be nice to host the SS UT maps on Systemshock.org.

If anyone finds any more System Shock or Bioshock maps remade for other games, then please post them here.

Found this Half Life 1 mod called Half-Shock: http://anyon.net16.net/HShock.html
But I can't get any of the two versions to work.
The non steam version says that there is no hshock.dll, but it's clearly there. (game of the year edition with 1.1.1.0 Patch)
The steam version doesn't appear in the list. Folder is D:\Programme\Steam\SteamApps\yacc\half life\HShock

Half-life has one of the largest and most varied modding communities i've ever seen, theres tons of rare custom stuff for that game, not all of it is still on the internet unfortunately :(.

Just registered after Al_B told me about this thread. You guys can go ahead and host my levels on here, no problem. You can copy the descriptions + screenshots from my web site if you like.

There are also versions of those levels for original Unreal, if there is anyone that plays that for something OTHER than singleplayer/co-op:
http://www.zerker.ca/zzone/category/levels/unreal/

Note that the Duke Nukem level is not by me (as mentioned on my site). I only put it there so it wouldn't disappear entirely from the internet. As I was never able to contact the original author, I don't "technically" have permission to put it there. System Shock.org is probably a better "default" host for the map, but you would be in the same gray area of hosting a project by an unreachable author.

I also have some semi-lame (now low-res) wallpaper and icons:
http://www.zerker.ca/zzone/2001/10/08/system-shock-backgrounds/
http://www.zerker.ca/zzone/1999/04/06/system-shock-icons/

In the wallpaper post, I mentioned I traced a vector version of the System Shock logo. Does anyone want this?

Yeah, I'd be interested in the System Shock logo. :)
Also could you start a new thread here? You don't have to post much into it. I'll fill it up with your SS1 levels later. I just want you to be the post owner, so that you always retain full control about the stuff.

I added the UT maps...and remembered I could create guest posts and attribute them to your account. The advantage is that you can edit those posts at any time, including the attached files. Thank you for allowing us to host them here!
I'll see about the Unreal levels and wallpapers tomorrow, now sleep. :smurf:

I got everything in place now, divided in 3 threads in the System Shock board. I copied the descriptions as they were, merely added creation dates and original links. Feel free to correct or expand as you see fit.

Oh and I found the guy who created the Duke Nukem map in the telephone book. Haven't been able to reach him yet, but will try again. I don't think he minds distribution of his map, as he allowed that in his readme (in 1997), but I want to ask him if he still has the full archive.

From memory didn't someone do one of the SS1 levels in the C&C Renegade engine?

@Zerker

Wow! The maps are *fantastic*. So far, my favourite is the Grove but they are all done very well, including the Thief map. I've had a quick go with a Zombie mutator and it seems to work well too.

It's strange that these maps don't seem more well known - I've been collecting UT maps since the game came out, more or less (I love UT, to me it's still the best PC deathmatch game ever, despite it's age) and I don't remember seeing it mentioned on any of the sites I've visited (you should post them on http://forums.beyondunreal.com/forumdisplay.php?f=3 which is the best UT forum I know of, no doubt many UT fans would love to discover these maps).

I did, years ago, but they're pretty dated looking. Some guy made a video of the Medical Level map. I did a version of the Flight Deck, too, but I don't know what happened to it

/Didn't see the post above me, and yes, that's my map
//I'm glad someone remembers me ;-)
