A planned RPG based on the Cyberpunk 2020 pen and paper RPG series. Earliest expected release date is late 2015.

I'm really looking forward to this game.
Not so much about the gameplay, but more about the visuals, the story and how the whole "world" will be like.
I've read some article/interview with Mike Pondsmith a while ago and he was kinda bitching about how there has never been a real cyberpunk game after his games and he wants to make one again.
As I can't agree with him completely, he certainly got a point that many of thoose "cyberpunk" games just don't get it right as they tend to "overreact" or just undermine everything what it is about.

But gameplay wise, yeah well, it probably won't have something new and stunning, which can be absolutely fine if they get the immersion right. (Just think about "The Last of us" great game which totally gets you, but gameplay wise it's build on solid concepts.)

Looking forward to seeing more. Don't have any expectations as of now simply because I don't want to be disappointed.

Do we have any idea what it's going to be about yet?  I can't find anything.  Bullet-proof boobies obviously piqued my interest but perhaps there is yet another layer...

The original pen and paper RPG is probably the best source of information as of now. I'm personally mildly pessimistic after having played The Witcher by the same developers a few days ago. But in a scifi setting at least they don't run the risk of using non-contemporary concepts and terms.

The Archive song in the teaser didn't do much for me. This version (by Perturbator, featured on the Hotline Miami soundtrack), on the other hand...

Anyway, although I love The Witcher, I wouldn't mind CDPred moving away from the ARPG formula a bit and stepping into real RPG territory. Can't wait to see more of it.

High hopes for this game. I think I will be disappointed gameplay-wise going off of the Witcher, however. Gameplay being my priority, that's not good at all. I think they may nail the RPG aspect though. Using PnP RPG's as a model is what gives me hope, shame video games that utilize the rules are so rare these days.
Aside from gameplay, the art style and cyberpunk concepts will surely be interesting. Level design will probably be dull though (gameplay-wise again, not aesthetically).

I want it to be more Deus Ex or System Shock than Mass Effect or Witcher, but perhaps it will be something entirely unique...? Not likely. And don't get me wrong, just because the first two games are first person that isn't the reason why those games are better. Sure first person is just plain better but third person can be great too, but Mass Effect and Witcher are not stellar examples of what third person can be, in my opinion. Think Dark Souls' level design and gameplay (perhaps less challenging for the sake of a clearer image) but with an actual decent story and more classic role-playing elements, that is my ideal Cyberpunk 2077. Mass Effect and Witchers' gameplay & level design are exceptionally poor.

Until they're going to show some actual gameplay footage, I am really not going to fake interest in a cutscene trailer that cleverly avoids even mocap.

CD Projekt RED Overhauling Dev Tools Before Official Work Begins

Found via this Gamestar-article (in German):
Cyberpunk 2077 - Entwicklung wohl noch gar nicht gestartet

tl,dr:
They haven't even started development of the actual game yet and estimate it to be finished within the next four(!!!) years.

At that rate it may not even be scifi at release date any more.

Which makes me wonder when we will get cyberpunk games that drop the whole pretence of playing in the future and embrace Cyberpunk as a retro-futuristic alternative universe. So basically present day plus fax machines in flying cars, 80s haircuts, everyone smokes and ...well cyberspace I guess.

Sounds like Back To The Future II. But yeah, classic cyberpunk became retro-future somewhere along the way and 2077 is promising to be true to the unupdated 80ies/90ies-style. For me, that's what's so appealing about it. DXHR's future (like the original before it) on the other hand was updated and still seems like a possible near future scenario (another example would be Carbon Copy). Maybe this style should be refered to as future noir or something like that to avoid confusion.

Totally second Kolya's post. The original cyberpunk style needs to be accepted as a retro future/alternate universe. A very cool universe to be in.

“But the article that was written online was worded in a slightly click-bait-y type way that made it sound like we haven’t even started really working on Cyberpunk yet,” he added. “I didn’t say that. We’re just upgrading the tools. That’s all I said. That’s something that any company that uses custom software has to do from time-to-time. That’s all.”

Ugh... not a move I'd come to expect from CD Projekt.

Is that a fact now?

That EUPIO (European Union Intellectual Property Office )-page sure looks official to me.

Cyberpunk 2077 - CD Projekt erklärt die Sicherung des Wortes Cyberpunk

I'm not suspecting malicious intentions at the moment but I really don't like it and think they would have had less extreme options to secure their business.
6800cf859cd02
Sometimes it's just that you already established a name and then someone comes along and trademarks it and then press you for some money.
So it could all in all just be them saving their own asses for anything stupid others might do.
6800cf859ce4d
A system where you have to act like an ass to protect yourself from others acting like asses is pretty fucked up to begin with.
Wouldn't it be great if you could only trademark words (or word combos) that you invented yourself?

On a more realistical note: If protecting themselves really is CDProject's only interest, why don't they release the name under a Creative Commons license now, thereby making sure that no one can use it against them, while enabling anyone's usage?

Yes, so they say and that may be just all that is. Still, trademarking a word that general is way over the top! Would be entirely ok with me if they were reserving themselves a handful of titles or even a limited range (like "Cyberpunk 2000" - "Cyberpunk 2200" or something like that. But what they did is comparable to someone trademarking "Horror" or "Noir". In my opinion it's a wrong decision by the responsible departments (and law makers, obviously) to even grant anyone such rights.

At this frequency, the parasitic capacitance etc start to be a real big issue.
