@fox If you're a Queen fan you may know about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRqEmd-H7Zo

Yes, I have heared about the movie and I like Rami Malek but ever since Sacha Baron Cohen called it a day, I'm not feeling very interested in it. Apparently the surviving band members are pushing for a certain take on their band history to protect their legacy. Now, if you have heared about their escapades back in the days, it's pretty easy for me to see how this movie can end up feeling gutted or fairy tale-ish.

William Gibson wrote:

I was reminded of GTA too when I saw the trailer but when I think of GTA V's world building combined with The Witcher 3's story telling and character design in an 80ies retro-cyberpunk setting and some hardcore role playing foundation, that is exactly what I want! If it works out, this could be the game of games for me.

I think William Gibson is generally not one for retro futurism. I guess wallowing in outdated scenarios that you helped bring to life over 30 years ago must come off as a bit dull and lazy for somone who was always trying to envision realistic future scenarios.

Yah, just saw the Gibson tweet and came here to post about it.
I get that he isn't too thrilled, presumably because the trailer doesn't look dark, noir and gritty enough and isn't fascinated with materials. But saying "hey, that's just me" when everyone knows he invented cyberpunk is a bit of a dick move, if you ask me. Or rather, a humblebrag.

RPS:"Cyberpunk 2077’s demo at E3 was a vivid, drug-huffing first-person romp of guns and butts"

Yup, the neon future of Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person RPG shooter. You can create your own character, drive cars through the streets, shoot gangster’s legs off in slow motion, hack their guns, and shag your fellow cyberpunks, among other deeds. All this is based on the 50-minute demo shown to press at E3 yesterday, a demo of asymmetrical haircuts, exposed buttocks, golden prosthetics and plentiful drugs. A demo of street life and futureslang. It was impressive stuff, and it left my brain feeling very fizzy. I’ll run through it below in as much detail as possible.

Hopeful. CDPR aren't known for their enthralling gameplay, but rather their writing. I'm hoping this time they can nail both. The potential is definitely there. I shall be watching this one.

This lineup I think describes W.Gibson's problem with the trailer:

Yes but who says that it doesn't look like that after sundown (and a change of weather)? There's absolutely no doubt, that every single one of the people envolved with this project, knows exactly about the appeal of rainy cyberpunk nightscapes.

That, and Cyberpunk (the role playing system and the scenario behind that) is just as much Noir-style, Blade-Runner-esque classic cyberpunk as it is 80s pulp fiction., and the screens fit that theme.

During a conference call for financial investors and analysts CEO Adam Kiciński said that progress on Cyberpunk 2077  is “fast and according to plan,” and the intention is to “deliver something of great quality.” CD Projekt is striving to release games which are “as Refined as Red Dead Redemption 2.”

In other words, leave us alone we're working on it.

If I were him I'd have said "as refined as The Witcher 3".

But you gotta hand it to Rockstar that they do know how to pull off their releases. While, most likely, they are exploiting their employees just like the rest of the industry, I do sympathsize with their all-in-approach. They take their time, they keep quiet until it's time not to and then they go all out with their marketing and they usually do deliver something that is so grand in scale and with relatively few hickups and at least reasonable long time support, that the hype feels somewhat warranted* and the huge, huge budgets actually do seem to pay back in spades for them. As a guy who likes their games, I say that's actually a win-win-business model (in terms of customer and studio). CD Projekt Red always did seem to have taken notice of that and combined it with some more generosity towards their customers.

In Google Chrome, if it does that then press [F5] to reload the page, then right click anywhere on the page that isn't a link or a download, and click 'Translate to English'.

Sometimes this works, when the first attempt failed, though I've no idea why.

Audience: "Yeah!"
Reeves: "There is no release date."
