Well, I got bored at work one day and jumped on board the Linux Express (hrrhrh)

Seems like ShockEd works quite well in Linux, and the gameplay works just fine also using Wine.

I'll report back here with any issues I have and how I fix them, has anybody else used ShockEd in Linux?

lol first bug found!

Compiz and game mode do not work well together, while it is entertaining to have a wobbly ShockEd window, you have to revert to your default window manager to enter game mode (I use XFCE so I have to do xfwm4 --replace to enter game mode).

Things are pretty though?

That is an example with compiz, it won't allow in game mode but it will allow editing. When I exited game mode the window popped to my second monitor, that is why ShockEd didn't reappear in the video.

Edit - Portalizing seems to take longer, no idea why.

have you tried to run the game mode windowed?

Windowed never seemed to work at all for me even in Windows, but I shall try that now!

Edit- It was not pleased with Windowed mode, it changed my resolution to what I set the windowed mode to, and didn't capture keyboard input for awhile until I did some alt tabbing and mashed some buttons.

try using wine's "emulate a virtual desktop" function. btw, how did you change the windowed resolution exactly?

Uh in ShockEd? Game Mode Settings.....was I wrong? I'll poke at the virtual desktop thing, but that always broke more with things in the past. Its no big deal switching to xfwm4 before launching ShockEd. Not many people run Compiz anymore, and that is my only issue.

nno, if you want the game mode to be running windowed, you will have to edit cam_ext.cfg and uncomment force_windowed.

Totally awesome now :D

It does lag quite a bit in game mode, again, probably because of Compiz. I'll tinker with it more this afternoon, but loving window mode.
