Motions: How do I know which gets used ingame?

I'm insane enough to at least try to edit a motion. I've read a bit into it an got a basic understanding of the motion editor included in the Toolkit. But how do I know which file I need to edit?
For the current thing I want to edit is the "CS 83 - Goggles ghost (in conversation), shoots himself" according to this list.
Would be nice if someone could point me out which *.mi and *.mc file I need to edit and maybe even point out how he got that information.

You need the motion tags/ schema that shadowspawn decompiled a while ago to find out which schema go with which motions, mirrored here.

the motion name for cs83 is 'humstslf'.
