Ball Lightning Rifle model by Rainalkar and Rocketman.

If I am not mistaken, I think you are talking about R&R&R's EMP Rifle mod. "Ball Lightning Rifle" was the name I gave to the mod that changed the EMP Rifle into one that did electrical damage. But, that mod did not change the appearance of the rifle.

Yankee Clipper: thanks, I had seen the weapon commonly referred to as such.

Kudos to Kolya for pointing out that the FMSel option was a shortcut on the start menu. New and improved installation instructions:

Steam installation instructions. Right click on System Shock 2 in your Steam library and select "Launch with Fan Missions". When FMSel prompts you about creating the \FMs folder, click "yes". Place Infinite's folder in \FMs and play via FMSel.

GOG installation instructions. Run SS2Tool to update your game. It will add a shortcut to FMSel on the start menu: "SS2 Fan Mission Selector". When it prompts you about creating the \FMs folder, click "yes". Place Infinite's folder in \FMs and play via FMSel.

Alternatively, you can use Blue Mod Manager and place Infinite's folder in \DMM. If you are having issues running mods and your game is installed in Program Files, move it to a different folder like C:\SS2.

I reuploaded both files to Moddb with the updated installation instructions. Now they also include a tweak that keeps music running in the tear maps, even after movies are played (not possible in the campaign maps). Grab the latest patch if you want to check that one out.

Hikar: an early version of this movie had Shodan speaking in a fixed position on the screen, as she transported the both of you through the various Cyberspace levels. But it was too static and didn't make the cut. However, this specific corner of Cyberspace 8 became the basis for the first tear map (check the hole in the ground). The tear maps are nothing but radio buttons, however the concept of the descent to the 3 choices is from a dream I had as a child. My family owns an old tower by the sea: in the dream, a tree had broken out of the roof and I climbed it down to the inside. Young Peter Cushing lived there, and showed me a hall with 3 alcoves protected by glass, each with some form of still life or everliving thing inside.

Alright. Finally got around to having a play.

Odd visual bug I've noticed. If your sent an audio message / email, then you see half the right side of the portrait of Delaxcroix on the left side of the screen (with the left side of the portrait off screen) and what I assume to be Goggles left side of his portrait on the right side of the screen (with the right side of his portrait off screen).

At first I thought this might be a newDark issue as prior to playing this I ran the latest ss2tool to update everything. But then I jumped into SS2 standard and everything worked fine.

Then I thought it might be a resolution issue as I play the game in 1440x900, so I dropped it to 800x600 and that did away with it, though I did see the occasional flickering in for a brief second of the same portraits on the same locations on screen with that resolution.

Beyond that, I did notice that with the Goggles and Marie run past the window at the start, then on a reload of auto save, that that bit didn't always occur properly.

Just pointing out bugs as I come across them.

icemann: the portraits default to 16:9, check the Addons & Fixes file if you plan to use 4:3 and 16:10. I wish we had an installer that automated the process.

I've got the same resolution Iceman and had to go with the 4:3 option because of the same portrait gettng cut off issue.

There is always more that could be done, but I've a feeling our friend doing the work is nearing the end of what can be done given avalible resources.

Still. I expect a few surprises here and there before he moves on to the PT project.

God damn that's great cyberspace bits. Whilst not "identical" to how it is in SS1 it's very close. Very good work. And here I was wondering if it was possible to get it in SS2 to be like it. Now I know :).

icemann: there's an OS Upgrade which removes the time limit in Cyberspace, if you'd like to explore every nook and cranny. By the way, you can unlock a couple special endings before meeting Polito.

In Medsci after crossing the tear, you can blow up the door which brings you back to the cryo capsule where you were sleeping.

In Polito's office, try shooting the talking Polito with an EMP rifle. Cheats to do so: "summon_obj emp rifle", "add_pool 999", "summon_obj stats trainer", "summon_obj weapon trainer".

Yeah I know of that upgrade. It's my planned 2nd upgrade :). Went with the unlimited uses of power stations, rather than them all being single use. Considering how good the energy pistol is in cyberspace + quite useful against robots in the real world.

This FM definitely goes beyond what any others I've played previously has done gameplay wise, and provides plenty of surprises on a 1st play. Not sure how it would play out on a 2nd play.

Does choosing any of "the many" choices lead to enemy switch overs (as in hybrids becoming friendly to you etc) ? Or is it more of a "do this and get x reward" for them only? The many is the only one of the choices that I could see the ss2 standard gameplay goals in-game conflicting with.

I've been searching for Grassi's body to knock off one of the goals from the list. In the note section it says to go to the Biopsy section of medical. But I've gone there and checked all 3 levels of it and no dead bodies to find. Was his body moved in this FM?

Glad you like the mod!  :thumb: The Many's route brings these changes:

  • Korenchkin congratulates you in a cutscene, as previewed in the tear. Later, he also sends a brief email.
  • In Recreational, the athletic sector with the antenna is patrolled by hostile crewmembers you are sent to kill.
  • Corpses are replaced by black eggs. They cause damage on contact and somtimes contain healing\psi organs.
  • Black eggs can be restored with "Marie: Phase", which briefly spawns one of the Many's ghosts.
  • The black-yellow variety restores them all in one go, and you also receive a message by Diego.
  • If you always follow the Many's route, or always perform the sabotages, you get the Many's ending.
  • You are given one of these items by Korenchkin, which come repaired and researched:

    Medsci: researched Crystal Shard.
    Engi: researched Viral Proliferator.
    Hydro: repaired Assault Rifle.
    Ops: repaired EMP Rifle.
    Rec: researched Worm Launcher.
    Command: repaired Fusion Cannon.
    Rick: 75 Worm Clusters.
    Many: no requirements Wormskin.

I guess the note didn't update when you got the keycard? Technically, Grassi is the corpse on the lowest floor of the 3 levels area: he used to contain a keycard, which is now outside on the top floor of the same area. All keycards are either in the open or in desks, because corpses might get removed by the tears.

Bug 2: In hydro on finding Goggles body and clicking to collect the memory chip, the game goes to play a cutscene but then immediately flicks back in-game. Tested this 4 times in-case it was a once off, but it occurred on all 4 attempts. This was the one above the glass area.

That's normal, "those" killed by Lt. Shephard are like that. You might have already stumbled on more like this, specifically at the Medsci trainers after opening the hatch, and in Engineering at the fluidics control computer. Like the videos unlocked in Cyberspace, they can be rewatched inside the tears.

Hmm. Same thing just happened for the cutscene for cyberspace for hydro.

I usually only see that happening when the game tries to run a cutscene but doesn't find it. Rest all ran fine.

Oh I see, it started playing the cutscene but it stopped? What I meant before, is that those corpses show their videos without the need for hacking them. It might be that the game registers a control input and stops the video.

Hmm. Very weird. Not even the prologue video plays now. This is very odd.

The only change today was me switching my speakers to going via headphones prior to playing the game today. Even SS2 proper doesn't play any video now. I must have stuffed it up somehow. No idea how.

Resetting my computer fixed it. So it wasn't anything to do with your FM. Just something on my computers end. Very odd.

I may have missed a few logs since it seems like the Tear options had two e-mails attached to each and I didn't go through all of the options.

Some Quest notes did not complete when finished: Med/Sci - Get crew card from Grassi. Command – Hack or Destroy the shuttle replicator. Destroy or save the shuttles on this deck. Rickenbacker – Destroy or save all the eggs. (For the last two, I chose to destroy the replicator and save the eggs)

General:
The window 'cutscene' with the hybrid getting killed has goggles running into the back of the hybrid to kill him and disappear.

In Med / Sci Crew section in the room opposite of the QBR Machine, Log on the table should have the G in God capitalized.

Engineering Bulkhead towards the storage area shows blown off doors in the cargo section, but not in the main section. (Consistancy for Bulkheads)

The Ghost Log inside the tears disappears too quickly

Deck 3 Shepard Teleported into a window and started clipping it.

Hydro goggles hack cutscene still shows the old location

Bulkhead 32 in Hydroponics between Sector D and the main area shows biomass on the floor in the main area, but none in the sector D area. (Consistancy for Bulkheads)

Cutscene from end of Hydroponics Goggles in the elevator - 2nd line subtitle should read "I can't shut her down" but it says I can't shut it down

Security Crate in Ops lower level insert 5 only has 1 cybermodule in it

Ops Bulkhead 43 has a worm pile in the main area, but none in the transitioned area. (Consistancy for Bulkheads)

Rec Bulkhead 52 is normal in the main area, but is destroyed in the next area. (Consistancy for Bulkheads)

Using cigarettes at 1hp will bring you to 0 hp but not kill you

Rec Bulkhead 51 is normal next to the movie theatre, but has a dead body in the main area. (Consistancy for Bulkheads)

Cutscene "the mind probe" subtitles should read "...but you do not match any employee file." instead of " employee's file."

Rec deck tear for Marie has tooltip "search corpse"

Security Officers spawned from Shepard option tears do not seem to drop extra loot from the OS upgrade Scavenger

Shepard Log in the Command showers area is empty
Shepard Log in the Command escape shuttles area is empty

Cutscene Command Cyberspace subtitle should read "Her will is only matched by her imagination" instead of "Her will is matched only..."

Custom laser rifle, Custom Wrench, Custom Power Armor, RunFast Implant, and Custom Assault Rifle still have placeholder descriptions

On the Rickenbacker, in the hallway between the torpedo launching room and the laser turret + crate room there is a Shepard Log that is identical to one of the previous ones. (If I 
remember correctly)

The Rickenbacker laser turrets are still giving double audio hack messages ("Unit R3X compromised")

The shuttle door before the BotM needs to close faster since the shuttle doesn't actually move.

Most security crates tooltip hover difficulty does not match the actual hack difficulty (Maybe related to game difficulty?)

In the Body of the Many, ACR #2 and #5 do nothing?

Unique wormskin armor's description still says it requires 6 strength to equip.

The annelid conduit before the big drop has tooltip "press button" after the cutscene.

William Diego Log at the end of cyberspace should read " ...but neither I nor my crew ..." instead of " ... but neither I or my crew... "

Kinda weird hearing a different voice for some of the end cutscenes.

Still waiting on a credits cutscene where it says "Brought to you by xdiesp. Voices by... etc"
