It must have occurred to someone at FB that requiring to upload such pictures was an issue. So I assume they are simply not willing to spend that money. Which is appalling. But then it's Facebook.

Do people actually watch the let's plays?  I mean I do from time to time just to reference certain features or levels without having to play through to that section myself, but for people who aren't remaking the game...I dunno I must just be missing the appeal.

I very rarely watch any but if the letsplayer is good they can be enjoyable. Some games do lend themselves to that more then others. I remember enjoying one for SOMA, which I didn't watch from start to finish and instead decided on buying them myself later on. The most recent one was a bit of the ARMA 3 expansion APEX because it is/was part of HumbleBundle and I wanted the get a glimpse at the way it plays. They are definitely useful to for that.

ones with a proper commentary can be extremely useful for troubleshooting/bughunting (not having to play the game yourself means you can concentrate on everything else). I watch pretty much all SS2 LPs that pop up on youtube (minus ones that have incorrect aspect ratio, or are cammed with a phone, because screw that).

I rarely watch them. I really enjoyed the "Pacifist Approach" LP for SS2. Beyond that I mainly just watch them for a bit in a game where I'm stuck.

The only game videos I tend to watch are the speed runs of first or third person shooters. I don't care about the speed-running itself, but it's great to learn how people have managed to find and use glitches in the gameplay or game-engine, and you can learn some really interesting tricks in the games (such as Deus Ex, and Half-Life 1 and 2).

On the minus side, since many speed-runs tend to not contain game-bending tricks (and are just a very well played run-though the game normally) then those videos don't interest me.

Yes, but I love seeing engine-fooling actions or glitches that let you do things the game wouldn't allow you to, such as bypassing a whole section of the game, or managing to take a usual item to another part of the game where normally you can't do so. There was a great one in Skyrim, where if you put a bucket on a shopkeeper's head (so he was wearing the bucket, and his eyes were covered up by it) then you could steal what you like, since the shopkeeper couldn't see you, and so didn't know that you were stealing, and he often didn't remove the bucket (and if it did fall of it was usually because the game engine got confused and made the bucket shake until it fell off). Unlike most game glitches, that one did sort of have a basis in reality (he couldn't see you because of something blocking his eyes, so he didn't know you were stealing), which made it even better!

On a tangent, your post made me wonder when was the last time I deliberately placed a restriction on myself in a game I knew too well.  You know, when a game you really like is now too easy because you know it backwards, but you still want to play it because you love it so much, so you invent challenges or restrictions . Batman: Arkham Knight is the last one I can recall, I play the Batman Arkham games without using Detective vision in the predator's areas, as otherwise it's too quick and easy since you can see the enemies through walls, floors, ceilings, etc.

With Skooldaze (a 1984 ZX Spectrum game, utterly superb), I discovered several ways to make the game easier, but didn't use them much as the game wasn't too hard anyway, not when you've played it a zillion times. But that's the first game I remember where I was actively looking for in-game shortcuts, and by the time I found the ones I did (which weren't difficult to find, the game was complex for it's time but not too complex), I was too experienced at the game to need to use them (and it didn't help that the game had no skill level selector, and was designed to be not too hard anyway, it was a much longer game than the arcade style games that were so common back than).

With many favourite first person shooters, I usually try for headshots (though I've yet to find even one FPS that has a headshot-only option for killing enemies, that would be a great game-modifier for people who want to make it more difficult). Also, I like playing through my favourite FPSs with just my favourite weapon and infinite ammunition, but since gaming cheats mostly died more than a decade ago, this isn't possible with most console games from this and the last console generation, and I've never really bothered with the third party cheat programs that let you cheat on PC games.

And trying to save all of the NPCs in a compliant game can be fun too. I once played through Half-Life trying to save the scientists. It's surprising how many you can save even though they're not supposed to be save-able. You can even save the scientist in the room at the blast pit (the one who normally gets carried off by the green tentacle), but he (and the guard) still get killed when you activate the rocket booster, I've not found a way for the scientist (or the guard) to survive that.

In Half-Life 2, you can't save anyone who isn't meant to be saved, as they aren't affected by your weapons and can't be deviated from their pre-scripted actions.

Here's a few I've done:

* No save challenge - Doom 2 - Get as far as you can without saving. I usually get to about level 14 or so. I've never managed to beat the game via this challenge. Tried QUITE a few times over the years.

* Beretta Challenge - Shadowrun (SNES) - Challenged myself to play through the entire game with only the first gun you pickup in the game. Turns out this made the game far more truer to it's PnP origins, as you now actually needed to use hired help (Shadowrunners) to get through areas. And a much higher reliance on magic. I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge and managed to beat the game.

* Leave No Man / Woman behind - Every X-COM game I've ever played (that was a turn based strategy game) - I never let a single one of my troops die. If one dies, reload save.

I watched 20 minutes of "Everybody wants some!!" (2016) by Richard Linklater which is supposed to be this warm hearted nostalgic look at youth in the 1980s. But  I quickly found myself increasingly hoping Kurt Russell would show up and rip with his car through these college kids. Which I didn't feel when I watched Death Proof actually.

On a more positive note I re-watched Star Wars Rogue One two nights ago and the worst I could say about it is, that I wish it was longer, the characters more fleshed out. I would like to see a prequel on the adventures of Chirrut Îmwe and Baze Malbus. Never going to happen.
But Rogue One was the adult Star Wars movie I had hoped for, with an appropriate downbeat ending that stays in mind. I also heard similar good things about Solo, which I have yet to see.

A couple of weeks ago, I watched Darren Aronofsky's Mother!, Blade Runner 2049 and Trainspotting 2. Blade Runner 2049 wasn't bad but I expected it to be more memorable and pretty much the same applies to Trainspotting 2. Mother!, on the other hand, left me quite impressed. It's different but just as intense as Requiem For A Dream was.

Oh yeah, I gotta see Blade Runner 2049, thanks for reminding me. I had friends say they found it super boring. But then the original Blade Runner was boring if you look at it like that. So I'm still secretly hoping for atmospheric greatness.

Also I would watch Eco Angels in a heartbeat.

Well Tarantino had actually been planning to remake Faster Pussycat. But then Weinstein confused sexual power fantasies with reality. Now Tarantino has missed the 40 year window in which such films were possible in the mainstream. Much like the comics of Eric Stanton, it was an art form that tapped with glee into dark and uncomfortable places. For now it's been pushed to the hidden corners again. But I'm not sure if that is the best place for it.
